Who said he’s doing it to appease leftists? I imagine the poor kid has been traumatized by this whole ordeal and wants nothing to do with the gun anymore. I imagine he now has, or will have, some PTSD from killing two people and being in jail etc.
This probably isn’t about appeasement - more likely the gun would be a reminder of something he wants to try to forget.
They say people often sell their house after a tragic accident or illness takes place - even a burglary. It doesn’t mean they think they did something wrong, or that the house did anything wrong.
