As part of the Dodd-Frank Act boondoggle, Durbin successfully attached an amendment that placed price controls on debit card transactions. Unsurprisingly, Durbin was wrong. Other studies have shown that these regulations resulted in consumers losing access to free checking accounts,
Losign the free checking accounts was the whole point of that exercise. Banks wanted a good reason to get rid of them, and Durbin provided it. If it really was a bug, and not a feature, why hasn't Durbin asked to rescind the act?
