Looks like this decades-long "reform" has a few rough spots to it. Hanson is correct: for the muddled social justice theories that have been sold on campus since the 70's this is simply a case of an exploited class reclaiming what is rightfully theirs from their exploiters. Since prison is part of that exploitation, removing it from the equation should produce a more equitable world, which it does...through exploitation. So shut up and take your beatings.

This is nonsense and its results are before us. California politicians' response is to see how little they have to backslide from this "progress" in order to maintain a comfortable existence for themselves. It won't be much, they'll begrudge and resist at every step, and it won't work.
