"In shortage" drugs include antidepressants, antibiotics, heart medicines, cancer-fighting drugs, and pain killers.

More than 100 pharmaceutical drugs are facing supply chain shortages, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned.

Drugs currently listed as "in shortage" by the FDA include antidepressants, antibiotics, heart medicines, cancer-fighting drugs, and pain killers.

"The FDA continues to take steps to monitor the supply chain," the federal agency wrote.

"The Drug Shortage Staff within the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) has asked manufacturers to evaluate their entire supply chain, including active pharmaceutical ingredients, finished dose forms, and any components that may be impacted in any area of the supply chain due to the COVID-19 outbreak," the FDA wrote in a statement on the shortage.

Products regulated by the FDA account for 14% of imports and 15% of exports in the United States. The agency also reports that "about 80 percent of active pharmaceutical ingredients manufacturers are located outside of the U.S."

The National Community Pharmacists Association's November poll showed that 60% of pharmacies report facing supply chain disruptions. Exacerbating issues, 68% of pharmacies stated they are facing staffing shortages.

And just think. All of this was unnecessary and was not a problem a year ago. I guess the American people are just going to let their government kill them in various and sundry manners.

Wonderful. Who is the brain child that came up with allowing corporations to cut corners and have communist manufacture our medicines/ingredients for them?

Should be jailed.

Been waiting for this.

The “pandemic” unveiled that we get 90% of our drugs from Communist China. Instead of solving that national security problem, we’re putzing around with social justice, killing energy production, and other woke crap.

This is the fault of the Bush Pubbies.

They began the huge off-shoring of everything, for a few pieces of silver.

If we made it here, this wouldn’t happen.

Now Shut Up America, and go get your next booster!

When enough people on these prescriptions die or kill themselves that should ease the demand and supply problem....

Get everyone dependent on daily prescription medication and then destroy the supply lines that deliver that medicine to the pharmacies. Sounds like a good plan. So many of these meds having warnings not to stop taking without approval of a physician, and to stop taking requires a gradual reduction in dosage, but it’s almost impossible to get a doctor’s appointment less than a few weeks out.

You would think our government is trying to kill us!

The Bullsh!t Administration says that they’ve taken steps to ensure that shelves are stocked. How? By willing life-saving medications into existence?

One of mine has been in shortage for the past four years, on and off: Transplant meds. I had to have mine filled in Dallas and ask my brother to ship it up to Chicago for me because that area had nearly full stock, and mine couldn’t get it.

I’m so looking forward to losing this kidney. (/sarc)

Personally, I think we should start importing from India while we ger our sh!t together here at home. They’re no fans of the Chinese.

Trump should announce Warp Speed 2, to bring 90% of our pharma supply chain back to the US within 2 years.

Surely the invasion on our southern border of those seeking the free healthcare promised by Joey and the democRATs, won't prevent those Americans who have worked and paid for healthcare from getting life saving medications.

You are probably correct. This was the legacy of the Republicans representing management and the Democrats representing labor. For Republicans at the time management could do no wrong.

So why do we manufacture so many critical products overseas? Because that’s what the management wants. It really is no more complicated than that.
