E-scooters used in crime wave including shooting, carjackings and break-ins

Electric scooters are changing the way we get around, but these quick, cheap and fun devices are also involved in a citywide crime wave.

“It’s quiet, and usually there’s not a lot of crime,” said Emily Hardy, who lives in Atlanta’s Ormewood Park neighborhood.

Lately, her neighbors have been using social media to warn one another about a rash of crimes involving teenagers on electric scooters.

“I can’t even keep up with the thread anymore. There’s just so many people complaining about things being stolen from their cars,” said Hardy. “One of the cops investigating the situation said be careful because they think they might be armed.”

Yeah, they bust the windows, grab whatever and scoot off. It’s all over youtube.

They’re fast, unregistered and don’t require a driver’s license. Perfect for aspiring criminals and criminally-inclined SJW teenagers.

Damn, Atlanta will solve these crimes in no time because they've put Sherlock Holmes on the case!

I guess they are a step up from bicycles. Maybe easier to shoot from.

A class-action lawsuit against Bird might solve the problem.

The scooters are everywhere. You can pick one up off the ground and drop it when you are done with ti.

I just bought a couple of eBikes for my wife and I. They can go up to 30 mph, don’t have to be licensed, make no noise, and can go places bicycles routinely go and cars cannot, such as bike trails (which many cities now have) so I presume that is their advantage in crime.

Everything has a duality. A beautifully well made hammer can construct a nice table, but also can bash someone’s brains in.

Assuming you live in one of those idiot Leftist cities that uses taxpayer money to buy them so people can use them for “free”. (’Free’ to the non-taxpaying users, of course, who have no skin in the game and drop them everywhere when they are done with them, the way an immature kid drops dirty clothes on the floor in their parent’s house, expecting someone to pick them up for them.

Yup, but only if there aren't easy unlocked pickings.

Older neighborhood, older homes few with garages, meaning a lot of on-street parking. Wife and I lived nearby in Grant Park for many years until 2007. We never had much of a problem with crime back then. I wouldn’t live down in that location now, pretty much surrounded by black areas, and with the racial tensions Dems have stirred up I’d feel like a target.

It’s called Third Worldization!:

It’s the utter breakdown of the law, and the ability of the rich within such a feudal society to find ways to avoid the violent chaos.

Neistat was right in identifying a pandemic of crime in Los Angeles as Third Worldization.

The predictable role of the smug, indifferent Third World rich, who master ignoring – and navigating around – the misery of others in their midst.

In a medieval-type society of two rather than three classes, the rich in walled estates rarely worry that much about thievery. Crime is written off as an intramural problem of the poor, especially when the middle class is in decline or nonexistent.

Violent crime is now soaring in America. But two things are different about America’s new criminality.

• One is the virtual impunity of it. Thieves now brazenly swarm a store, ransack, steal, and flee with the merchandise without worry of arrest.

• • Second, the Left often justifies crime as a sort of righteous payback against a supposedly exploitative system.

So, the architect of the so-called 1619 Project, Nikole Hannah-Jones, preened of the riotous destruction of property during the summer of 2020:
“Destroying property, which can be replaced, is not violence.”

Third Worldization reflects the asymmetry of law enforcement. Ideology and money, not the law, adjudicate who gets arrested and tried, and who does not.

The above statememnts excerpted from: Victor Davis Hanson’s: “Third-Worldizing America
Nation & State” ^ | 12-4-2021 | Victor Davis Hanson

So, Forget It, Jake! Relax! It’s Now, Not Your Town!

You voted for this B$!!! Even, If you didn’t, it doesn’t matter! Your vote has not counted nor been counted for decades, if ever.

E-scooters are dangerous as most people ride them, without helmets. They have already caused many head injuries. If you hit something while riding, you’ll go flying.

In just a few years, I’ve had one person tell me about a friend having an accident on one, and then was a witness to such an accident myself. I was later contacted by the young man’s family, who told me he nearly died from bleeding on his brain. I also heard something later on about him being in a nursing home and possibly never fully recovering.

“Safety concerns mount after e-scooter crashes leave nine dead in a year”

“Crash-related injuries are costing the NHS £1,000 per patient, according to the report”

“The First Ever E-Scooter Safety Study Results Are In, and They’re Terrible”

“Among the confirmed injured riders who were treated for head injury, 15 percent were found to have traumatic brain injuries.”

Maybe a lot of this crap would stop if judges threw the book at them instead of patting them on the head.

But the scooters are “environmentally friendly”.
