The Oakland County Fugitive Apprehension Team is currently searching for the parents of Ethan Crumbley, the Michigan teen who killed four people on Tuesday and injured another seven when he shot up Oxford High School, according to the Detroit News.

Jennifer and Jason Crumbley were charged with four counts each of involuntary manslaughter on Friday, a rare move by prosecutors who said the parents failed to secure their guns and didn’t respond to their son’s distressing behavior.

The Detroit News reported that despite previously promising to show up if a warrant was put out for their arrest, the couple is not responding to messages from their attorney and can’t be found.

What, exactly, is a threatening drawing?

Did it have words with an overt threat?

Or, just images of gore etc?

Yeah, this is too high profile for the cops to just let this sit in a stack of unimportant cases.

They might be able to beat it in court, but not until it gets to court.

Very interesting history you have. I’ve always wanted to go to St. Petersburg to see the wonderful art at the museum. I lived in SF a very long time ago when extremely elegant and totally broke old Russian aristocrats lived there, the ones who first took the Siberian Express to Vladivostok and ships to SF. Best restaurant in town was The Russian Renaissance out on Geary near the ocean. We went there for birthdays and other special occasions.

Did I mention that Putin is far smarter than Biden?

As for the crime family we’re discussing here, they’re not very smart either.

Morocco looks good. My daughter spent a few years in the Middle East and liked Morocco best.

“They might be able to beat it in court, but not until it gets to court. “

They will most certainly beat the criminal charges.

They did not violate any laws.

And they’ll like lose everything (that remains of their assets after losing their jobs) in civil court.

There has been some information and it indicates incredibly dysfunctional parenting.

“The dad had bought the semi-automatic 9mm Sig Sauer handgun his son allegedly used just four days earlier, on Black Friday, officials previously revealed.

The second-year student then posed with it on social media, which suggested it was “freely available” in the family home before the slaughter, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald previously said.

His mother, Jennifer Crumbley, posted a picture online about using the gun, saying “mom and son day testing out his new xmas present.”

https://nypost.com/2021/12/03/parents-of-oxford-school-shooting-suspect-ethan-crumbley-to-be-charged/

“ McDonald said Friday that on the day of the shooting, a teacher saw drawings on Crumbley’s desk which led to the parents being called into school. The drawings included a picture of a semi-automatic handgun pointed at the words “the thoughts won’t stop, help me” and “blood everywhere,” along with a picture of someone shot and bleeding. The drawing also contained the words “my life is useless” and “the world is dead.”

When the parents met with their son and counselor, they did not inspect his backpack or ask him about the gun, according to the prosecutor. She also said the parents declined to take Ethan home after the meeting.”

IMO the school officials that did not suspend the kid and call the police when he was openly drawing pictures of blood and death at his desk…should be culpable

And I was “given” a Remington .22 rifle when I was 6yrs old. It was stored in dad’s bedroom closet.

The parents did not violate any laws.

Yet they are charged with manslaughter.

Well, now they’re a flight risk if they’re brought back. I think they may have been looking at one of those “ the process is the punishment” screw jobs that Kyle got. Punish them with legal fees

I hear ya. Still, I think it’s a $600 handgun, minimum.

They’re trying to get “safe storage” laws in many States. This may be one of those “ prosecutorial discretion” cases to advance leftist desires.

Once in awhile common sense should prevail. The guns should have been secured with a juvenile in the home. NOW they will push some overbearing law about locking guns up and people in bad neighborhoods will have a harder time defending themselves.

The manslaughter is not for not having the guns secured, but for purchasing the gun for an underage person and that gun was used in a crime. Also a Michigan law: if a gun is used in a crime and it was not locked up the owner is liable. Depends how the prosecutor stated it.

As has been mentioned, Michigan has no mandatory gun storage laws. Most people are smarter than those parents and secure their weapons where juveniles cannot get to them

Since you seem to be an expert in the law, could you please cite the statute that outlines the elements of the crime the parents committed? Thank you.

The words he wrote on the drawing are reportedly:

“Blood everywhere, thoughts won’t stop, help me. My life is useless. The world is dead.”
