A prosecutor on Thursday repeated her criticism of the parents of a boy who is accused of killing four students at a Michigan school, saying their actions went “far beyond negligence” and that a charging decision would come by Friday.
“The parents were the only individuals in the position to know the access to weapons,” Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald said. The gun “seems to have been just freely available to that individual.”
Ethan Crumbley, 15, has been charged as an adult with two dozen crimes, including murder, attempted murder and terrorism, for a shooting Tuesday at Oxford High School in Oakland County, roughly 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of Detroit.

Not comparing, read carefully.
If Trump runs for president again, he will be blamed for everything, no matter what. Every single thing, every single day. Logic and rational thinking will go out the window. If you think the country is going insane now, just wait.
When I was a kid we had guns on the wall, in a cabinet and I had 3 in my closet. The ammunition was in another cabinet in a large hall closet. There was only one loaded gun in the house and that was pops old 38 he kept in his night stand. Pop managed to raise 5 kids without a problem and all of were familiar with guns and myself and both brothers hunt. When Pop was a firefighter/fire watch in Baker he always had a loaded 22 he left in the house when he was fighting fires. That’s the one mom killed the bear with. Now a days folks would freak knowing that’s the way we lived.
Having guns around doesn’t make kids go out and shoot people. Having guns around kids that are mentally unstable is a risk, ignoring that risk is in my mind criminal.
True
The weapon has to be safeguarded.
I read somewhere he was autistic. I’m not sure how true that is, but with all the politics being injected into it, it’s starting to reek.
If they find out the kid had mental issues and the parent’s, the school and everybody that knew was silent about it I’d arrest them all. It’s amazing how many people knew about the instability of these mass shooter and never said a word.
Why would you say BS before doing a simple google search? Get a grip.
Parents may be liable for the negligent or criminal acts of their children, beginning when children are eight to ten and ending at the age of majority. This means parents can be subject to lawsuits or criminal sanctions if their children commit crimes or cause injuries or property damage to a third party.

Anyone who thinks they can buy their kids guns and not be liable for their actions are too stupid to either own guns or have kids, IMHO.
“they knew their kid was odd..”
We’ll find out as this plays out just how many people knew of his mental issues, his treatment and any meds he was on. Seems to always be the pattern in mass shootings, everybody knew about it but nobody said anything.
Every kid that shoots people has the defense they’re mentally unstable. I don’t think a “troubled” kid is grounds to blame adults. I know a couple who tried endlessly to get their son help from the age of ten....once on his own he shot a cab driver and the police later cornered him who he tried to shoot them. He was shot and died later.
Every troubled kid isn’t going to shoot people just because there’s guns in the home. Though if I had a troubled child I certainly wouldn’t buy him a gun.
Don’t know, trust media the least, government employees next least.
Yesterday, Sheriff Bouchard shut down the theory that the shooter was trying to get into the room, the person knocking on the classroom door really was a deputy. But, I still think the kids made the right decision.
What was the nature of the “issues?” Was he acting out? Did they know he was being bullied? In how many of these school shootings are the parents the first victims? Kip Kinkel...Adam Lanza...
“What are the laws in Michigan as it relates to gun storage?”
Store them out of the rain where they won’t rust. Ditto for the ammo.
BS
Well said!
Thank you...I had not heard this was the students mistake.
Getting your kid drunk is waaay different than the kid just drinking stuff that’s inthe house.
Which is stupid. Shooting a bunch of people cause you had a bad day or cause they picked on you is not terrorism.
Terrorism requires an actual intent to change something in society, political or religious, through the use of fear.
I agree, to a point. The kid is 15. The parents are responsible for everything he does. Leaving bottles of booze on the kitchen counter when you know your kid is obsessed with alcohol and then being surprised when he gets drunk is nonsense. This kid had a fascination with guns and people around him were worried about his behavior. So yeah, I think giving him free reign over a 9mm could be criminal.
