The majority of Democrat voters are found to be afraid of the Omicron variant despite all of its cases being very mild. A poll released by YouGov Wednesday found 80 percent of registered Democrats said they are either “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” about the latest variant.
Only 35 percent of Republicans are feeling the same way. Furthermore, 87 percent of Americans have heard about the variant due to its extensive coverage in the media. This comes despite officials in South Africa and Botswana saying they did not have a rise in hospitalizations or deaths due to Omicron variant.

I’ve been noticing over the past handful of days how there is an avalanche of people saying it’s mild.
I would guess the majority of testing is happening because someone felt ill. This isn’t a drive thru testing environment anymore where people get tested when they feel fine. People have to feel ill to get tested. Apparently, ill enough to ask for a test is defined as mild.
Beyond that, it takes 10 days from symptom onset for past variants to kill, and 80% of those people have to be over 65 for it to happen. If you have a lot of 45 year olds staying out of the hospital, it’s not really a legitimate measure.
From day 1, South Africa has had roughly 3% of cases die. They have added about 12,000 cases in the past few days. What we have to look for is an increase in their recent daily death count of 25.
3% of the 12,000 cases would be 360 dead and that would be normal over a week or so. Jump that to . . . say 500 and that starts to look like trouble.
US death rate has been 1.6% of cases. If that raised by just a double, it would be 3% and people would not need a single govt mandate. They would not leave their house on their own judgement. It would be headed for 1 million additional dead.

I’d say currently the majority of testing happens because someone goes into the emergency room for stitches, or some other routine thing, has to be tested, and is positive.
Ain't that the truth. Whatever Omicron turns out to be, the panic factor is increasingly isolated to the people who appear to enjoy terrifying other people and the ones who enjoy being terrified.
Liberals are not typically low-IQ folks. They have broken values, are terribly selfish, and are politically bigoted. Most of all, they are Godless, which induces a terrible fear of death. It is also possible that they are possessed.
Some, no way to know if most. Or what South Africa is doing.

It seems to me that conservatives missed the boat when it comes to smart tactics. The liberals took over the schools with no conservative push-back or oversight; and, now look at what that accomplished.
