LANCASTER, Pa. —
The number of COVID-19 cases in Pennsylvania hit a 10-month high Wednesday.
Hospitalizations are also on the rise, and that is impacting the care of non-coronavirus patients.
Hospitals said they are seeing the waves of COVID-19. This latest surge may be related to waning immunity from the first vaccinations and the need for boosters, as well as many who are still unvaccinated.
Health systems have had to react like they have during other times in the pandemic.
More than 100 COVID-19 patients are in Lancaster General Hospital. It's twice the number from just three weeks ago.
"We're seeing 15% positivity rate, so that increasing infection rate is resulting in increasing hospitalizations," Dr. Michael Ripchinski said.
The hospital is trying to balance treating COVID-19 patients and others who need care. It has started rescheduling some surgeries and procedures.
WellSpan Health has also postponed some elective surgeries because of rising COVID-19 numbers.
"We triage. We want to make sure that those patients who are the sickest, might need the care sooner, that we do those cases earlier," Ripchinski said.
The rise in cases has once again put pressure on staff that is already stretched thin and sometimes taking on different roles.
While it's hard to predict, Ripchinski expects the numbers could increase even more over the next week to 10 days as a result of Thanksgiving gatherings.
Ripchinski urged people to get vaccinated and if eligible, get the booster.

In CT they are are averaging between 25-30% fully jabbed in the the hospital, but they love to bury that data.
In before the mandates to go full Australia on the un-vaxed.

If the vaccination is even half of what it is claimed to be I really don’t give a rat’s rump whether anyone else is vaccinated or unvaccinated, masked or unmasked, coughing or calm, close or distant!
I am pro VOLUNTARY vax.
I am barely tolerant VOLUNTARY mask.
I am anti MANDATORY vax.
I am vehemently anti MANDATORY mask.
I have ZERO need to “feel safe” on the basis that everyone in a venue, a health care facility, or any other place has dutifully shown their papers.
America will remain “the land of the free” ONLY if we demonstrate that we are “the home of the brave”!

I CHOSE to get vaccinated....my CHOICE.>>> I like your post but at some point you will not be “fully” vaccinated as the boosters will be a requirement. Vaccine risk is to be documented by law in title 42. now it is not and no government or company has a risk to tell anyone to get anything they will dictate based on covid.
Patient care is being affected by bad administrative decisions, not rising Covid cases.
Stop mandating vaxes for people most likely already immune and firing them for not complying, and you wouldn’t have any healthcare worker shortages and patient care would not suffer.
That sure is a lot of coincidences.
By firing health-care workers?

Not only firing healthcare workers, but refusing to give meds like Ivermectin and the other none working treatments.
Cases and hospitalizations always seem to be “on the rise.”
So, in other words, I really don't believe anything the media writes or administrators from hospitals say about the ChiCom Virus. I can make stuff up just as good, if not better, than them.
Bottom line, if you are at risk (old and comorbid), protect yourself. Everyone else get on with your lives and stop being pussies.
You can add we don’t want anywhere near a hospital or ER full of COVID patients. Hospitals are not sterile places. Been in to many, they have poor cleaning regs.
Hubby got the J/J jab like the good 20 yr Career Ret. USN Vet he is, we are a mask less county, next to a Blue Co that houses Memphis, the Crime/Covid capitol of Tennessee. He is having heart issues, his Internist poo-poo’d them, I finally got him to see his Cardio, test coming up.
I’m the Rebel, No Mask, except dr office, NO JAB. I react to to much crap. Since ingredients are censored I can’t take it, and am very Pro Life.

Same, I object medically and Religiously. Very Pro Life. Only KILLERS, PEDOPHILES are not on that list.
It might be affected by CoupFlu if nosocomial spread is an issue thanks to vaxxed superspreader employees....
