Every time I hear that old repetitive statement about a woman has to have a right to determine what she can do with her own body, it makes me aggravated.
As far as I'm concerned the woman already made that choice, and pregnancy was a known possible consequence. So perhaps that woman should learn to make better choices, and not ask an innocent being to pay the consequences.
Totally agree.
And too on the issue of “reliance.” As long as you know the rules going forward, it’s okay if the rules change, they often change - see new laws.
To me, simple humanity demands that we give great respect to the divine gift of conception and treat it with utmost care and respect. Does it have consequences? You bet! Always what we want? Not by a long shot.
But ... this is the law, and it strikes its own morality, divorced from the creator (and even divorced from its own writings). Its failures are bound to be spectacular, and those enamored of it, won’t even notice the failure.
