The Federal Trade Commission said Monday that it is investigating the causes behind ongoing supply chain disruptions and how they are "causing serious and ongoing hardships for consumers and harming competition in the U.S. economy."
The FTC said it is ordering Walmart, Amazon, Kroger, other large wholesalers and suppliers including Procter & Gamble Co., Tyson Foods and Kraft Heinz Co. “to turn over information to help study causes of empty shelves and sky-high prices.”

I am certain that post put you on some kind of conspiracy theory list somewhere!
Shouldn’t the Feds just get out of the way of building pipelines or something?
Step one for nationalizing the grocery stores and instituting rationing. Rations to be determined by one’s social score; white males will be lucky if they end up with 1000 calories a day.
It’s an offshoring of industry problem and not a global supply chain problem. We deserve this.
Yes. Section 6(b) of the FTC Act authorizes the Commission to conduct wide-ranging studies that do not have a specific law enforcement purpose. (stolen from FTC Press Release on a differenct subject)
I say sink all those ships and force industry back to the USA. Make it here, do it now.
Make shopping illegal, that way all the stores stay full ...
Either use the commerce clause power or label it a tax.
Gee, I don’t know, maybe it’s because a bunch of monkeys ran in and stole everything?
I was promised a new p/u solid bed cover in 70 days ~40 days ago.
We’ll see how that goes next month.
The local factory is apparently short of staff and components.
You think this is fake?
So Biden was going to give a speech yesterday about about the supply chain and just now the FTC is Ordering retailers to produce this info??
First off, that’s the wrong group to ask. They need the Manufacturers to provide information.
Secondly, why are they “Ordering” anything? Screw them. The work for the people. Getting that kind of information is going to take quite sometime. So this makes me think this is just a gesture to make the media report it as if the Biden Admin. is fixing the problems.
Thank you, and boy is that ever on today’s target.
Most of the manufacturing is done in China, driven in large part by the retailers like Walmart.
Just In Time meant you destroyed your stock room and built a new conference room. So when the trucks don’t come, you are screwed.
The various mandates have pushed a LARGE part of the workforce out. Those that are left have zero trust in their employer and employees. If they can try to make you get a medical treatment, where does it stop?
We are not going to be able to go back to 2019. That isn’t all bad. Their needs to be more domestic manufacturing, but to do that there needs to be much less overhead. So don’t expect large textile mills employing thousands.
Comply with the order by sending them a picture of Joe Biden.
I think most business is just a corrupt as the government.

Thanks. Yet another reason for import tariffs.
A friend of mine went to a Wal-mart near where she lives and she said they were completely out of milk.
For most stuff in grocery stores, and dozens of other industries, inflation and supply chain issues are not an “offshoring” problem.
