Report: Omicron Variant Present in Europe Before Identified in South Africa

The omicron Chinese coronavirus variant was present in Europe before it was identified in South Africa, Dutch health authorities revealed Tuesday.

According to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), the omicron variant was infecting the Netherlands nearly one week before the world awakened Friday to the strand experts and scientists said first originated in South Africa.

Let me state this again. The propensity for Coronaviridae to mutate is unparalleled. The Omicron variant has been everywhere already as the vaccine selects for the mutations. Epidemiology 101 states that one cannot vaccinate itself out of an epidemic. This virus is not like a bacterium, Polio, or smallpox and changes almost overnight. The vaccine will help the most susceptible, aged and immunocompromised, and would be best to allow the virus to spread within the population naturally. As it spreads the virus will become less of a threat because those that survive will have natural immunity to variants. What we are doing now is creating lethal variants and is contrary to epidemiological methods that have been successful in the past.

What is the method used to specifically determine a variant? Electron microscope? RNA coding?

All these experts should stop their navel gazing and concentrate on therapeutics that work on a broad spectrum of any flu-like virus. Injecting, testing, masking, closing imaginary borders ... none of these things have stopped viruses, any virus, from circulating until it no longer finds someone to infect.
