Theater lovers may want to tune into the 2022 Grammy Awards.
A source tells us that Grammy producers have reached out to Barbra Streisand and asked her to perform a tribute to late musical theater great Stephen Sondheim for this January’s show.
*******
Composer and lyricist Sondheim passed away on Friday at age 91. The iconic songwriter was known for “West Side Story,” “Follies,” “Sunday in the Park with George,” “Into the Woods,” and more.
A revival of his show, “Company,” is currently playing Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, and another of his shows, “Assassins,” is playing off-Broadway at the Classic Stage Company.

Now that I might actually tune in to watch and listen.
Getting old? She’s 79.
That means she’s Brandons age.
I guess my decades old streak of missing the Grammys will continue.
I think she just did her tenth annual farewell tour last year.
She makes every song she sings sound like a funeral dirge. Blech!
Funny.
But what are a few tire treads, crow's feet, bunny lines, forehead furrows, parentheses, cobblestone chin, turkey neck or marionette lines on an aging icon like Barbra? She never passes up a Dem fundraiser performance, too.

Yes she did. Two big ones: Somewhere from West Side Story, and Send in the Clowns from A Little Night Music.

Lots
Streisand performed eight of his songs including “Send in the Clowns” on her 1985 “The Broadway Album,” which won a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
His songs also appear on her album “ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway,” which was nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album in 2016.
Saw her on Broadway in Funny Girl probably about 1965. Fantastic...but neither she nor I were into politics back then.
I guess my streak of NEVER HAVING SEEN the Grammys will continue.
Sondheim wrote the lyrics for West Side Story.
Leonard Bernstein wrote the music.
Almost every story I have seen since Sondheim’s death has gotten this wrong.
iirc she is classically trained
She always overreacted, too. You never forget she’s acting.
She’s still alive?
Streisand?
I’ll tune out!
In the theatre ???
Babs - one more reason to watch a different channel.

She ain’t Fiona Apple, and if she isn’t Fiona Apple, then I don’t give a rat’s ass.
