drivers can charge their cars in as little as 30 minutes.

How long does it take to put gas into your car? If that is the best case scenario, one can only imagine the lines at the charging stations. And what happens when you have huge traffic jams due to some idiots who forgot to charge their cars?

Let the marketplace control the transition from gas to electric or some other propulsion system. The USG should stay out of it. It takes many years to develop the infrastructure. The capital investment in the internal combustion engine is massive affecting tens of millions of jobs. .
