New York City on Monday issued an advisory strongly recommending that everyone wear masks indoors at all times regardless of vaccination status, amid concern about the new, highly mutated strain of Covid named omicron.
“I’m also issuing a commissioners advisory strongly recommending that all New Yorkers wear a mask at all times when indoors and in a public setting. Like at your grocery or in building lobbies, offices and retail stores,” Dr. David Chokshi, commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, told reporters during an update.
Outgoing Mayor Bill de Blasio and Chokshi said New York City has not identified any cases of omicron so far. They both emphasized that vaccination remains the most crucial tool available to fight Covid-19.
“There are no omicron cases here in New York City at this moment. It is very likely there will be, but there are no cases at this moment,” de Blasio said. “Our entire focus once again is going to be on vaccination. Based on everything we know, vaccination is crucial to any strategy for addressing omicron.”
Chokshi said it will probably be a matter of days before omicron is detected in New York City. He said the city has a strong surveillance system that can rapidly identify omicron when it arrives.

I bet NYC can’t wait until January 1st.
Went to see a show this weekend. Had to show ID and vaccination card before allowed entry into theater and then everyone had to wear masks at all times. They also no longer allow drinks, purchased at the venue, in the theater. Probably too risky having to pull down the mask to drink.
If everyone in the building is vaccinated and vaccines work, why are we all wearing masks?
I wanted to cancel, but 1 of the 3 of us all ready cancelled due to family celebrations. I didn’t want to leave my other friend alone.
We bought the tickets way before Covid and the original show was cancelled last May.
Too bad I won’t be going to that theater anymore, I really enjoyed going there, but they are just too stupid and act like Nazis.
Guess it’s to be expected with the artsy crowd.

Wanna bet he can’t remember to leave it on...
Hey, but at least they feel good about themselves. They no-doubt feel like they are “doing something!” to help... :-/
I was at the Thanksgiving Day parade, in the grandstands on Central Park W. I too had to show a vax card and ID. All they said was you had to show a vax card, they didn’t say you actually had to be vaxxed ;)

And all that trouble to see Springtime For Hitler again?
Actually it was Come From Away. It was humorous, entertaining, but I also cried a few times. Look it up.
88% vax rate my rear end.
Every restaurant in New York City expanded their outdoor dining as soon as the vax card rule was put in effect.
My ex is a CUNY professor. There was no vax mandate for the fall semester, because, obviously, a lot of professors did not get the vax. And that’s a very left wing crowd. But not all left wingers are gung ho for vax tyranny. A lot of them quietly oppose it.
CDC even said they will not provide records or make cards for people.
To people worried about jab cards: If a counterfeiter can make a realistic birth certificate for a woman's Kenyan baby taken to Hawaii then can't they make superb two jab plus booster cards? Pay them with a fake $50 from your wallet.
There is a 45 minute documentary Tom Brokaw did on Gander during the final day of the 2010 Winter Olympics. I tried to do a quick search but could not find it for you. It is a MUST see video- get the long version with Brokaw.
“documentary Tom Brokaw did on Gander “
Thank you! The journalist in the play actually talked about being excited about Tom Brokaw coming to Gander.
I will look for it.
I dropped my daughter off at LGA yesterday then went to an Irish bar which i will not name in an area of Queens i will not name. I wanted to get something to eat while i made sure her plane took off. With the 1PM football games on big TV’s in a bar i thought it would be fun.
One waitress on hand, a supervisor and a few cooks...and not a single person who walked through the door was asked for proof of vaxx...
My dear lovely neighbor Marie is 83 and is an accomplished musician. She plays viola in two local symphony orchestras and will be singing in a local production of Handel’s “Messiah” on December 19th. She gave me a ticket (worth $25.00) and I promised I would go, especially since we had tried two years in a row to see a performance of “Messiah” and BOTH were cancelled right out from under us.
Then I found out that masks are required. I objected, but Marie said that even the SINGERS would be masked.
Singing for two hours, breathing one’s own CO and germs? SERIOUSLY? I am not a doctor, but I am a Vocal Coach, and that is an absolute atrocity. Especially since the entire chorus is made up of Senior Citizens, who have breathing issues as it is.
And, of course, the libretto of “Messiah” is all Scripture about The Great Physician, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Who lives and reigns forever.
He is bigger than any virus, and I consider the whole production a sham if they have to wear masks to sing those words. Grrrrr.
I PROMISED. So I will go, and wear a mask, but I think this is the end of my concert attendance days.
They may turn me away at the door anyway because of a certain pesky card that I don’t have.
TRUE.
People such as this celebrity-obsessed, power-driven, ego maniacal "health and mental hygiene expert" should be condemned, shunned and, most importantly, ignored completely so that you can protect and enjoy your physical and mental good health.
Does this also apply to all the bums sleeping at Penn Station?
