“Slow Disaster Playing Out” As Germany Moves To Shut Down 8.5 GW Of Baseload Nuclear Capacity
Watts Up With That ^ | 11/28/21 | P Gosselin

Posted on 11/29/2021 5:31:54 AM PST by Renkluaf

At FaceBook, Dane Peter Bardland presents a chart and commentary on Germany’s upcoming rapid nuclear power phaseout.

By the end of 2022, the government will have shut down another 6 plants with a total (baseload) capacity of 8.54 gigawatts!

Yesterday we commented here that Germany will in fact be shutting down all the baseload power sources, which ironically kept the country from blacking out in 2021 because wind and solar power failed to deliver as expected.

“Disaster playing out”…”pretty crazy”

Bardland writes:

In just over a month, Germany will close 3 of its newest and best nuclear power plants and more than 4050 MW of electricity will disappear from northern Europe’s power grid. 4050 MW is equivalent to the average electricity consumption of all of Denmark.

It will put supply security further under pressure and them choosing to do so in the middle of winter is pretty crazy. Not only will the 4050 MW of shut off nuclear power lead to more CO2 emissions, but it will cause much more pollution from the burning of biomass and fossil fuels. Next winter, Germany will close the last 3 nuclear power plants, also 4000 MW.

Anyone who has followed the energy and climate political debate, even superficially, over the last 10-20 years can see that Germany, Denmark and other ‘green crazy countries’ are doing it vigorously AGAINST what logic and science dictates.

We see a slow disaster playing out with The Greens in the lead role as the crazy villain, hell-bent in their eagerness to wipe out life and prosperity.

(PS. Buy warm clothes, food, water and candles, for the coming winter).”

On top of the baseload power shutdown madness, German Health Minister Jens Spahn said he favored a one-year complete lockdown of unvaxxed Germans. There’s definitely something in someone’s water.

That’s just a bolt of lightning. The only problem is you don’t know where or when it will strike.

Whatever the backup is , be it coal, gas ,oil or power from Russia (fossil fueled ) it can’t possibly reduce carbon emmissions since the nuclear plants don’t produce CO2. It is all a political ploy to satisfy the Green party because it hates nuclear power.

In the end the CO2 concentration in the air above them and us won’t chamge so it’s a waste of effart and money.

1. Nuclear power is Green
2. Good. Let them be the beta site for Green energy
3. Except nuclear power is Green

Moreover:
4GW of nuclear is about equivalent of 24GW of installed “renewables”.
In practice, on average, the renewables deliver about 1/6 of their capacity.
Germany has already installed enough renewable power sources. Renewables installed theoretical capacity in Germany is about 1.5 times of German electricity needs. Yet, instead of flooding Germany with electricity, these deliver like 1/4 of German electricity needs on average. In bad days only about 5%.
There will be long, cold winters in Germany!

“They are fearful of German nuke plants being hit by a tsunami”.

In addition to all being built on earthquake faults.

Well, they have plenty of imported laborers who can be put to work cranking generators. That should solve the problem.

After all, that strategy worked well from 1939-1945.

France gets 75% of their total electricity from nukes. They absolutely load follow those plants for peak loads. Germans do as well. Here is the details and scientific numbers behind it. Modern nukes can and do load follow with high levels of load maneuverability. Even GenII nukes can and do load follow.

https://www.oecd-nea.org/nea-news/2011/29-2/nea-news-29-2-load-following-e.pdf

“Most of the currently operating Generation II nuclear reactors were designed to have strong manoeu- vring capabilities. Nuclear power plants in France and Germany operate in load-following mode. ... In France, the impact of load-following on the average unit capac- ity factor is sometimes estimated at about 1.2%”

The problem is the center in Germany is very very much to the left! So if you’re to the right of that center, you’re still pretty much left.

“Nuke plants cannot backup wind and solar because they cannot be switched on and off quickly enough. So, Germany uses coal as a backup for their Green disaster.”

They decided to close all the coal plants too! See link below) This is what happens when you get a critical mass of Marxist-Socialists together in one place at one time. America is not far behind.
