US dangerously misguided in believing Russia won’t respond to NATO threat — ambassador

The assumptions heard in the United States that Russia is likely to be frightened with NATO capabilities in Ukraine and the Black Sea are dangerous delusions, Russia’s Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said on the YouTube channel Soloviev Live on Saturday.

"NATO states are taking over the Black Sea, Ukrainian territory. There are assumptions, which are voiced here, that certain daredevils or a group of combatants may turn up in Ukraine, who will try to test the strength of Russian defenses, expecting that we will not respond fearing the NATO potential. I would like to say and emphasize unequivocally that it is a very dangerous delusion," the diplomat said.

Antonov pointed out that Washington is increasingly expanding the range of weapons delivered to Ukraine.

Oh come on. Kick in the door and the whole rotten house will collapse. I wouldn’t even take cold weather clothing with us.

Western-Russian relations are a comedy now. It seems like a guy who caught an 800-pound catfish with bare hands and demands the fish surrender threatening to drown it otherwise.

The oil&gas make 15% of the Russian economy and about 45% of its exports. There is a positive trade balance nonetheless.

For all foreign trade, both import and export are dismal for Russia.

If it would disappear tomorrow 85% of the population won’t mention it.

The US has absolutely no interests in Ukraine.

Russia’s interests there are existential.

I don’t think Russia is bluffing. If ever there was a time for them to “stabilize” Ukraine it is now. The U.S. administration is weak and our military is poorly managed.

Opportunities like this don’t come along that often. China see’s this too.

The Russians do seem to enjoy stomping on the Ukranians for some reason.

> It’s not Afghanistan or Vietnam, now is it? <

It could be more like Europe in 1914, where one stupid move set the whole thing off. And as we all know, Joe Biden specializes in making stupid moves.

76% of the Ukrainian military and 100% of alphabet agencies, LEOs, defected to Russia in Crimea in 2014.

What are you talking about?:)

Interestingly, Russia can just wait, and sell natural gas to China, their gas export income will remain the same.

All of Europe desperately needs that Russian gas right now, this very minute.

They can force Europe to fight among themselves or freeze and that includes their economies.

Russia can reverse the Baiting for an Attack to be used for PR, and force the EU to attack using NATO, or capitulate.

My Russian (now American citizens here in Alaska) hate Ukranians too. They claim historically, Ukranians have taken advantage of Mother Russia. Now I just luv Halupki but all my interactions with Ukranians have been quite negative. A Gypsy culture for sure; I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

Not surprising Putin threatens military action. When you have a first rate military and a third rate economy, what would you use?

Wow. The Putin bootlicking is strong in this one. Biden and the Fabian Socialists are a serious threat, but it does not diminish the threat from Putin, Xi, or the other old school Communists out there. And calling Ukranians Nazis??? That’s a stretch. Right Sector and Swovoda is akin to many of our Trump supporters here. Not Nazis, many of their ancestors fought both Stalin and Hitler.

Not surprising Putin threatens military action.

Putin was not mentioned or quoted anywhere in the article.

The Article was about views and observations of Russian Ambassador to US Anatoly Antonov, speaking in the United States with reference to local US persons and US Government Officials.

Seems the Ukranian Nazi Coup Bootlicking is stronger.

What we are seeing is a wag the dog, Biden and the EU desperately need a distraction from the corona-authoritarian regimes they are launching, the runaway inflation, the lawlessness, the failure of Biden and the wokism that is annoying everyone in America.

And a few here cannot move past the 1930s or 40s, and desperately miss the original Cold War where they once had a sense of purpose. It’s hard to be Wyatt Earp without any bandits.

And of course, taking on the actual bandits (Communist China) costs a lot of money, ruins investments, and is more scary.

Mr. Putin, among others, probably owns Mr. Biden in multiple ways and for multiple reasons and my guess is whatever happens will flow from that reality.

For example, while finding and fitting the puzzle pieces together so far, we can see how Mr. Biden has removed US energy as a player from the global market, again, and has made Americans dependent upon foreign sources once again.

I’m guessing any bluster here, there or anywhere now is probably their standard “never let a crisis go to waste” deflection/alibi stuff that allows “whatever” to happen and things to continue as they will, the same as they have with every other thing Mr. Biden has touched so far.

For those who like jigsaw puzzles, there’s no shortage of pieces to fit together to solve this one. Let the data tell you the story, not the media.

I don’t remember Trump supporters using the Wolfsangel of the 2nd SS division, naming groups after Oskar Dirlewanger, or holding torchlight parades.
