WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — For decades, the tiny Marshall Islands has been a stalwart American ally. Its location in the middle of the Pacific Ocean has made it a key strategic outpost for the U.S. military.
But that loyalty is being tested amid a dispute with Washington over the terms of its “Compact of Free Association” agreement, which expires soon. The U.S. is refusing to engage the Marshallese on claims for environmental and health damage caused by dozens of nuclear tests it carried out in the 1940s and ’50s, including a huge thermonuclear blast on Bikini Atoll....
... China was willing to engage with the Marshall Islands and other Pacific island nations on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation under the “One China Principle,” in which Taiwan is viewed as part of China.
“We welcome efforts to boost economic relations and improve the quality of life between the sides,” the ministry said in a statement.

My dad was part of the H-Bomb tests back then and I remember him mentioning Kwaj. I’ve been there for work back in the 90s a couple of times. The US leases the base there and others surrounding. We have a substantial amount of RF equipment there that plays a role in monitoring US pacific missile test shots and also looking westward towards China.
This is an old story, about rat administrations just failing to take care of business. Same sh*t went on under Clinton, when the opportunity to secure huge supplies of fissionable material from the crumbling eastern bloc went unheeded. Just the fact, that rats are incompetent thugs and mobsters, and don’t much give a sh*t about true governance.
I met a Marshallese young man whose family had relocated to the state of Washington as I recall. Based on his description they got the shaft. Medical problems persist with little or no help from our Government.
I was a telemetry chief at Kwaj many years ago.

I was working for GTRI doing tests on a new long range radar there at Kwaj (GBR) that was the prototype for an eventual much larger radar based out of Hawaii...
I miss the old Kwaj before the new Army baby proofed it.
My experiences in the USMC taught me a long time ago to not discuss OPSEC items in an open forum, especially concerning issues that may reflect the ineptitude/malfeasance of a progressive dummy that is doing everything in his power to weaken the USA.

Nothing was said here that is remotely OPSEC. Every bit of anything said was published in several media venues.
Further, if informed citizens do not speak out about disastrous and even criminal (IMO) actions of some “progressive dummies” [here one might think a US President, for instance], just who in the heck will? It sure won’t be Congress or the deep state three letters or the MSM.
