Using a weapon and telling some one to "stick'em up" is not a good plan.
If your life is truly in danger, kill the perp, if not, don't play "pretend cowboy".

I agree in that the gun is not for ‘threatening’ but only for needed defense, however, your comment is not a hard rule. Situations can change in an instant, threats can retreat. You can go from justified shooting to not safe or justified in fractions of seconds.

You’re already playing “pretend cowboy” if your choice is to rely on your “quick draw” skill rather than having the gun in your hand when you need it.
