‘Way back in the fifties, my dad used to drive down to The South Side to pick up Tom, a black fellow who worked for his company and came out to our house in Hinsdale some weekends to help with repairs, etc. Then Dad would drive Tom home to his wife, Iris, and their six kids. They’d all be murdered today. Incredibly sad.

It sure is. There are even towns in the Midwest that will literally GIVE you a home free and clear if you’ll move there. Small towns all over had the kids leave for college and never come back. Parents pass away and the house sits vacant with no hope of it ever selling. There might be a convenience store only there, but you can get out.

I lived in my car to escape. It is possible. It isnt easy. My car.. a paid for 10 yr old home. Got a job at the new place. Made it.. better for it.
