When you’re low income and don’t own your home, it’s not always possible.
How much does a bus-ticket to rural America cost?
Regards,
Alexander, with due respect, I don’t think you’re seeing the entire picture of what such a person would need to deal with before simply moving away.
Take a bus ‘to rural America’ to what destination if they aren’t property owners? If they have no family already there?
Using what continuous source of income, if they don’t own their own business and that business has been proven as lucrative in this rural area?
If their are children involved, you have to find schools that aren’t too far from home. Doctors and Dentists as well.
Not to mention, some children don’t do well in school if they are suddenly removed from their friends and all they know.
Conclusion: Relocation is an option to raise one’s standard of living, but change, permanent change, is a sticky wicket.
Better yet, car ownership is a ticket out of anywhere. That's the main reason my kids didn't grow up in a crime ridden neighborhood.
That and plenty of jobs out there. Pack it in and go. Quit making excuses.
Going to need more than just a bus ticket. How much does a moving van cost? Deposit for first and last month's rent? Getting electric utilities turned on?
It can cost thousands of dollars to move. Over 50% of Americans have less than $400 in their checking account at any given time.
