Former Rep. Lou Barletta (R) holds a wide lead in the GOP primary to be Pennsylvania’s next governor, according to a poll released this week.
The survey from Susquehanna Polling and Research showed Barletta has 27 percent support, more than four times that of his nearest Republican rival in the 2022 race.
“Since I launched my campaign, I’ve been working as hard as I can, traveling to all parts of Pennsylvania, to try to bring change to Harrisburg,” Barletta said in a statement to City & State.
“Polls don’t motivate me, my four daughters, ten grandchildren, and almost 13 million Pennsylvania residents motivate me to fix what’s wrong in the Commonwealth,” he added.
The second-highest-polled GOP primary candidate, state Sen. Scott Martin, only had 6 percent support.
However, 60 percent of respondents said they are undecided among the nine Republican primary candidates in the running early in the race.
A survey by the same company back in March showed Barletta had the highest name recognition among potential gubernatorial candidates.
Barletta served in the House from 2011 to 2019 and ran for the Senate in 2018, losing to Democratic incumbent Bob Casey.

Correct, As Mayor of Hazelton and since he’s been vocally on the side of the citizens and the rule of law for a long time.

Barletta’s trying to jump in front of the parade in Pennsylvania. He was no where to be seen last summer when we were all rallying in Harrisburg against Wolf and his illegal mandates and business closures. He just sat back at home with his finger in the wind and waited it out, while we did the hard work on the steps of the Capitol. Just Google ‘Barletta = Wolf + Harrisburg + rally’ and see what turns up. Nothing! No sale!!!
Does Mastriano happen to have some support?
Yes, he does...tremendous support all across the state and even in Bucks and Montgomery Counties in the East and Allegheny County in the West. As before, the push polls don’t pick it up because the grassroots don’t participate in them. Same thing that happened in the 2016 and 2020 elections.
Lou is a good man. Great on the immigration issue. Would make a great nominee.
But there are several very good candidates.
Bill McSwain former DA(?) from around Philly David White , businessman
Nche Zama, heart surgeon
Jason Richey, areal fighter
Charlie Gerow, vice chair of CPAC
and maybe Sen Mastriano
I have seen him concerning the 2020 Election and he seems like his head is on right and he appears to care about PA.
He would need a strong constitution to withstand the Dims in your state. If he is sincere he may be the surprise nominee.
We need a conservative to win so they don’t change the election laws in 2024.
