I am in no danger of starving, but still, when I go to the supermarket these days there always seems to be something missing or in short supply. I feel that this is virtually a new thing in America — gaps in the shelves at the supermarket. I don’t like it.

Pre-Coof it was unacceptable to have empty shelves by many grocers. Now holes and empty or very light product is the norm and managers just look and keep walking, no calling subordinates to inquire.
I see many shelves where they’ve pushed everything to the front, but it’s sparse.
On Monday my grocery store, a Kroger offshoot, was stripped of Pepperidge Farm cookies and had zero brand-name whipping cream/Half & Half and only one size generic.
Not the usual, 3 days before Thanksgiving.
