Geneva (AFP) – Covid vaccines reduce transmission of the dominant Delta variant by about 40 percent, the WHO said Wednesday, warning that people were falling into a false sense of security concerning jabs.
The World Health Organization's director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said many vaccinated people were wrongly thinking the jab meant they no longer needed to take any other precautions.
"If you are vaccinated, you have a much lower risk of severe disease and death but you are still at risk of being infected and infecting others," said Tedros.
"We cannot say this clearly enough: even if you are vaccinated, continue to take precautions to prevent becoming infected yourself, and infecting someone else who could die."
That meant wearing a facemask, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds and meeting others outside or only in a well-ventilated indoor space, he said.

Ahhh yes. I remember when I got my polio vaccine and was told not to worry. I can still get polio, it just won’t be as bad.
There was a great video a couple weeks ago showing how the vaccine went from 95% effective when it was first introduced down to the current 40%.

In the last six weeks, four of my (unvaccinated) grandchildren caught Covid. All cases were mild. Three of the four parents (all vaccinated) also caught it (cases were also mild).

How long is this face mask crap going to go on? Months? Years? Here in NV, I only wear one when absolutely necessary because the idiot governor ordered it indoors in commercial establishments.
When I go to a restaurant, I take the stupid thing off as soon as I sit down. Apparently, the virus won’t get you when you’re sitting down at a table but as soon as you stand up, it’s ready to strike./s
If it’s only 40%, I’d rather continue to take my chances than participate in their experiment.
So, 60% of the vaccinated still transmit Covid. Therefore, in any group of vaccinated people, you aren’t really safe from infection. In Seattle, only vaccinated people are allowed to attend professional or college sports events. Therefore, if there are 60,000 people at a Seahawks game, it’s almost like 36,000 of them are unvaccinated.
