CHINA’S round-the-world hypersonic nuclear weapon fired a second missile while travelling five times faster than the speed of sound, reports claim.
No country had previously been able to demonstrate this advanced engineering feat and the test is said to have caught Pentagon scientists off guard....
...Experts at the Pentagon’s advanced research agency Darpa are said to be unsure how China achieved the feat, as scientists say it "tests the constraints of physics".
Military experts are said to have been poring over the data to discover how it was achieved.
They are also said to be discussing what the projectile might be for....

That is where it all started for China, Bill Clinton.

As a side note, they come here because on mainland China they can only learn what the Party has approved for curriculum ; asking questions is unthinkable, since that is questioning the Party.

Has DARPA ever contemplated how many communistChina students Stanford has graduated in the last three decades ? Yeah, but I'll bet they didn't get usefull degrees like Wymens Studies or Gender Queerness and its Transfornative Intersectional Application of Critical Race Theory As Applied To Rising Global Temperatures Caused By White Men. What are they going to do with useless and racist studies in mathematics?

I remember a video of a Russian jet that could do advanced aerobatics and it seemed to have the ability to turn on a dime. It caused a bit of a concern, but I haven’t seen anything of it since then.

—
speed of sound 767 MPH * 5 = 3,835 MPH
orbital velocity 17,000 MPH
Not sure which agency is pushing these hyperventilating stories about a Chinese missile or why they’re pushing them, but the whole thing reeks of exaggeration and hysteria. The question is why? What is the goal?
Standard orbital missiles can launch nuclear weapons with far greater velocity than this alleged hypersonic missile. If it avoids going ballistic to evade radar, then speed, hypersonic or not, is not really a factor. Even a rather slow moving Tomahawk subsonic missile can evade radar by flying at treetop level.

Getting it to go fast and hit a desired target is hard.
It would help if the target wore a shirt that said "I am a woke pervert and we are coming for your children."
Then the Chinese would know where to aim.

If the Chi-coms aim for downtown LA and hit ten miles in any direction from downtown...would it really matter?

THAT is what happens when our military focuses on LGBTQRSVXYZ “correctness” and the removal of elected Presidents that they don’t like - instead of on defense.
Guess who’s gonna feel the consequences of their folly?

It may exist, may work.
But I’ll remind all: we freaked out in the late 1970s/early 1980s when the Russkies produced the all-titanium “Alpha” sub that could go 45kn underwater.
True.
It’s engine also blew up if it sustained that speed for more than a few minutes. After our naval experts really had a chance to look at it, they called it a “grenade.”

This video from Bill Whittle is for perspective purposes for people who are nearly overcome with fear about the Communist Chinese regime:
LINK: Bill Whittle Video: Perception Battlefield-As China Crumbles, Progressive Mind Tricks Brainwash U.S. to Think It's a Mighty Empire (20 min)
I post this because there are two important principles to keep in mind, particularly with Communist Regimes, and most particularly with the Chinese Communist Regime:
- Underestimating your enemy is bad and can be fatal.
This needs no explanation. This happens all the time, and not just in open combat either. And not just because your enemy might really be good, but because even bad enemies can get lucky or catch you unware.
- Overestimating your enemy is bad and can be fatal.
To some people, this does require explanation. It is not bad to overestimate your enemy when you prepare yourself, by acquiring weapons and training and be in a state of readiness to use them. That is called "being prepared".
What is very bad and can be just as fatal as overestimating an enemy is to think that the enemy is too strong to fight or even invulnerable.
This can paralyze a person or a country into inaction, at a time when inaction can be fatal or extremely destructive. It is illustrative to examine what the Nazis did in the late 1930's in the leadup to WWII. They had a massive propaganda campaign to convince potential foes to their hegemony that it would be a mistake to get in their way. They invited people of significance to Germany, and showed them their military might, most famously in the case of Charles Lindbergh (though they tried the same tactics with the likes of Jimmy Doolittle and Eddie Rickenbacker, neither of whom were taken in) where he visited, and being an aviation icon worldwide, they wined and dined him, flew him to all the Luftwaffe bases which had their runways lined with their modern, sparkling new bombers and fighters. As soon as they left, they had crews jump in the planes, and fly them to the next field Lindbergh was to visit on the itinerary. He had an impression of overpowering military might, and was of the opinion that anyone who fought them would lose badly.
This is relevant, because our current enemy is Communist China. Communist China has a longer horizon of planning than we do, and doesn't have to navigate democratic processes, as we do, where a weapon system, tactic, or policy approved by the likes of the Trump administration is then undone by the likes of the Biden administration, often in a fell swoop.
And keep in mind that the book that is required reading by the Chicom military leadership, taken to heart, and implemented where possible (as our own individual talented military personnel and planners try to emulate as well) is Sun Tzu's "The Art of War". There is a lot of wisdom in that book, and our military leaders are wise to appropriate it where it is sound to do so.
With that in mind, read these quotes from a venerable leader (Sun Tzu) with a long history in their culture which they slavishly commit to memory, and you will understand why what Bill Whittle referred to in his video above is a real weakness, and if don't play into their hands and surrender outright as many seem willing to do, this battle can be won, and it can also be won without firing a shot:
- "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak."
- "The greatest victory is that which requires no battle."
- "All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near."
- "Supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting."
In summary, it is wise not to underestimate the enemy, and keep in mind these Sun Tzu quotes listed above when they talk of how powerful they are. They aren't doing it for nothing. If they do make a grab for Taiwan, and they have us cowed into thinking we cannot engage them, they will win.
Like Hitler did in the early days of WWII.
