Unjabbed 12 to 15-year-olds are just three per cent more likely to catch Covid compared to fully vaccinated children, Pfizer's own study suggests.

Just 30 of around 1,100 youngsters (2.7 per cent) tested positive for the virus in the four months of the clinical study in the US last winter.

None of the children were hospitalised or died from the virus and they were either asymptomatic or had a very mild illness.

Kids have been back at school here since last fall, no masks, no distancing. Pretty sure they all have natural immunity by this time. No need for the jabs now. MO is 50% vaxxed and it’s probably mostly city/suburb people. If I had to guess, I’d say maybe 20% vaxxed in rural areas. I never saw anyone at the vax area in walmart.

Count me among the critics because I absolutely agree. The natural immunity the kids would get will likely serve them with at least a degree of protection for their lifetime. Parents of “unhealthy” children (e.g., morbidly obese) may decide with their pediatricians that it would be better for their child to be vaccinated.

This is a poor use of statistics. Not surprising, because statistics are very often used poorly. At least they are not misused.

0 out of 1100 vaccinated kids got COVID. So you could say their “risk” of COVID was 0%.

30 out of 1100 unvaccinated kids got COVID. So you could round up to say their “risk” of COVID was 3%.

So, you could then say, as they did, that they only had a “3%” higher risk of getting COVID.

Or you could say that their chances of getting covid were infinitely higher than the chance of a vaccinated kid getting covid (if you don’t like infinite, pretend 1 kid got it, then you could say the unvacced had 30 times the risk as the vaccinated.

But the measurement is meaningless. Your “chance” of getting Polio is approximately 0.0%. So, would you say the vaccine is useless? I mean, you have 0% chance of getting Polio with the vaccine, and 0.000001% if you are not vaccinated.

But everybody pretty much gets the vaccine, because nobody wants to get COVID.

The more important part of this paper is when it notes that none of the kids who got COVID had a serious case. If COVID hospitalized 30 kids, the 3% would be a big deal.
