Joe Biden announced that he will tap into the U.S. Strategic Oil Reserve in order to lower the price of gasoline — this after deliberately cutting production by shutting down pipelines and refusing to grant drilling permits in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.
It’s unknown how Biden can promote his climate agenda while increasing fossil fuel production. Environmental activists are puzzled — and angry.
“There is a huge contradiction right now in their actions,” said Jean Su, who directs the Energy Justice Program at the Center for Biological Diversity, which has sued to stop the oil rights auction. “It’s really all hands on deck right now for climate. . . . Right now is not the time for more oil and gas production.”
The president himself has acknowledged some measure of “irony” in his campaign for more production of fossil fuels — and lower prices that would let Americans burn more of them — as his administration has set a course for net zero greenhouse emissions by 2050.
“More oil now, less oil later,” is the headline in The Post. It boggles the mind how transparently idiotic this policy is. And these are the smart guys?
Want to hear something even dumber? Releasing gas from the Strategic Oil Reserve won’t lower the price of gasoline by one single penny.

We have done as you have requested. We have forced the reduction of domestic energy production and distribution, which has raised the cost of living. We have better OPEC to sell us more oil, and they have refused. Now we will be depleting our strategic oil reserve, which will put us at a strategic disadvantage.

The OPECkers will just cut production to counter this, and keep the prices high.
Worldwide demand for oil is near 100 million barrels per day. Selling off 50 million barrels from the SPR will have zero effect on prices.

Consider the XL Pipeline cancelled as Biden’s first act as president would have moved that same amount of oil every 60 days. This one time release from the strategic reserves won’t even be a blip in gasoline prices.
It is less than three days’ usage in the USA. Purely symbolic.

The stupid is strong with the Biden.
Shutting down pipelines and then tapping the Strategic Oil Reserve is a recipe for freezing the citizens in the coming winter months.
This isn’t stupidity, it’s a cold calculated attack on our American Society and way of life.
SPR is on the Gulf Coast, where prices are still around $3 a gallon. How will that help CA or NY prices? (Especially with pipeline paranoia?)
Now, there is the old Elk Hills Naval Oil Reserve, which is in the final shutdown phase - a transfer of whatever remains to the CA market might help there - for a few days.

I think everyone is missing Brandon’s real motive for releasing the strategic oil reserves. It not about lowering gas prices. It is about a windfall for the government. Releasing 50 million barrels times the current price of about $80 per barrel equates to about a $4 billion windfall for the regime.
It’s a signal to China to invade Taiwan...
The tap of 50 million gallons is about a 2 day supply on average they only get about 13 gallons of gasoline from one barrel.
Our masters are simply taking this new step in order to get that evil gasoline price to the $15-to-$20 per gallon range...
Then they will have their serfs boxed into very small geographical locations so that absolute control can be attained...
As they have just today stated, they intend to "tamp down economic activity" as a matter of policy that must lead to "the transition to a simpler way of life"
When the serfs cannot travel, they will be enjoying a more relaxed & limited lifestyle...
