The head of Ukraine's top military intelligence agency has confirmed, for what appears to be the first time, that Ukrainian troops in the country's eastern Donbass region have fired American-made Javelin anti-tank missiles at Russian or Russian-supported forces. These missiles, along with other advanced weapons that the Ukrainian military has acquired in recent years, such as Turkish Bayraktar TB2 armed drones, would be important factors in the outcome of any future major military confrontation with Russia. Fears are growing that the Kremlin could at least be prepared to launch a new, large-scale invasion of eastern Ukraine as early as January.
Ukrainian Brigadier General Kyrylo Budanov talked about the operational use of Javelins as part of a recent interview with Military Times, which he conducted through an interpreter. Budanov, who runs the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, also known by its Ukrainian acronym GUR MOU, used the opportunity to call for more help from the U.S. government as he sounded like the alarm about the Kremlin's unusual deployments of large numbers of military units to areas opposite Russia's borders with Ukraine in recent weeks.

Biden’s in charge now.
He’ll send you some blankets.
Don’t care.
Not our problem.
L
I’m glad they are getting some use out of them. I wish we could get them to lob a few into Mexico for us.
Hmm, well I guess if they continue to fire missiles at Russian forces then maybe, yes, the Russians might invade. Isn’t this kind of poking the bear with a stick?
I agree with the Freeper who said we should be lobbing them at Mexico, and our troops should be on our border.
How well are they working?
IIRC, neither side is claiming any armored vehicle kills/losses. So, apparently, not terribly well.
They’re shooting at Russian-*backed* forces, but not actual Russian forces. That doesn’t mean that Russia is necessarily going to roll in to support their proxies, and they haven’t. At least so far...
along with other advanced weapons that the Ukrainian military has acquired in recent years, such as Turkish Bayraktar TB2 armed drones
In the story, it says Russian or Russian-backed forces. Sounds like they are trying to tell less than the truth about what they are doing. The morons in our government are trying to push Ukraine into a fight with Russia. Let’s hope they aren’t that dumb. What does this have to do with us anyway??? We have thousands of invaders coming into our country every day and we should give a rat’s butt about Ukraine? More and more I feel as if we have crossed into Superman’s Bizarro world.
Ukraine is a RAT playground/proxy/piggybank. Has been since time of obama. America has no legitimate interest there but the RATs definitely do.
Hmm, well I guess if they are firing at Russian forces in Donbass region then maybe Russia has invaded.
The article claims Russians have been in that region since 2014. Why fire at them now? The deep state, neocon warmongers want the US involved in another useless, futile war in the worst way. Let them saddle up and go fight for whatever cause they get excited about. No more young Americans should die fighting another country’s war.
It mostly says Russian-backed - and if they were shooting at actual Russian official forces, Russia would be trumpeting that over the entire earth as a legitimate casus belli.
Since Russia hasn’t been doing that, it’s probably not Russian official forces the Ukranians are shooting at.
Have often wondered where all those AMC Javelins from the late 60s & early 70s went...
Otherwise known as other Ukrainians...
As Freeper Seruzawa said, we don’t know the truth of any of this. Ukraine wants what every other country wants - US money and to fight their wars for them.
Javelin, as in spear? So they’re spear chuckers?
Yup. Exactly. Russia may support them, they may not. None of our concern.
Eh, you can mostly figure out what’s going on in terms of combat actions by piecing together info from many sources and reading between the lines.
In this case, if the Russia-supported Donbass forces have recent higher level export model vehicles or better, their mounted APS are likely why the Javelins have failed to score kills.
