Target stores will no longer open their doors on Thanksgiving Day.
The change, which was announced to employees on Monday, comes after the big-box retailer closed its stores on the holiday last year in an effort to limit crowds and ensure customer safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Target and other retailers have traditionally opened on Thanksgiving to capitalize on Black Friday, the start of the holiday sales rush.
“What started as a temporary measure driven by the pandemic is now our new standard — one that recognizes our ability to deliver on our guests’ holiday wishes both within and well beyond store hours,” Target CEO Brian Cornell said in a note to employees first obtained by the Associated Press.

I don’t go to stores where the bathrooms are unsafe 🤪
aAAAAAND, try not to patronize the place, so doesn’t matter to me one way or the other.
BLM representative to Target bosses:
“You be open when we says you be open. Dig? We gonna loot a couple more Targets to impress that message real good.”
Thankfully, young girls will be protected from perverted democrats for one day at least.
Maybe one beneficial side effect of all this covid nonsense will be to convince people that they have no earthly need to be out shopping on Thanksgiving day.
Traditionally, stores were closed, not open, on Thanksgiving. Black Friday opened them again to big sales.
So my Middle school daughter can't be raped by a Pedophile in a skirt in the Target Restroom on Thanksgiving?
Thanks, Democrats.
It’s not just CoupFlu.
Labor costs too darn much.
Especially on holidays.
One of my best buds works as a store manager for a big location. He mostly ignores the woke homo faggot leftard memos they send him and sometimes plays dumb. HQ just lets it slide because they know how much the location makes. The other good part is that the location is far off that the ghetto animals aka obama kids hardly go there.
Once again Target copies WalMart
What happened is that Black Friday opening time crept earlier and earlier. From 9AM to 6AM, Then 3AM. Then Midnight. Then into Thanksgiving.
Finally stores are deciding "screw that" and having their Black Friday specials starting the weekend before Thanksgiving, and not doing ridiculous things just to attract crowds.
What was also happening was the crowds had an uncomfortable percentage of "gibsmedats" (hoping to score on the specials, and then re-sell), which was turning off the regular customers.
Dang, where are the looters going to loot?
Every Sunday, all stores were closed up tight as a drum. Maybe there were a few gas stations and convenience stores open but that was about it. No department stores, no liquor stores, no supermarkets. People spent the day going to church, going to parks, the beach, or just spending their afternoons on their front porches and backyards.
My father would "barbeque" in the backyard on summer Sunday afternoons. Basically he would throw half a bag of briquets on the grill, pour in half a bottle of lighter fluid and the flames would go 15 feet in the air for a while. He would char hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage. Absolutely blackened meat without even a hint of pink in the middle. All this while he was drinking either Old Milwaukee or Black Label beer. Whatever was on sale at the time. And we ate it all. And we were happy.
That’s a good small step. They need to now take an adult-sized step and ban men (especially males who CLAIM they are females) from the the women’s rest rooms.
Trying to reduce undocumented shoppers no doubt…
Good points.
That’s it! Never going to Target again! Wait.... I already don’t go to Target.
iirc it was the LEFT that did away wi “Blue Laws” as unconstitutional, AND unfair...
now they PWM about people having to work on said holidays
help me understand!!!
