Walnut Creek is twenty five miles from San Francisco.

At least here in the Northeast we do not call that “near”.

The whole state of Rhode Island is only thirty seven miles wide.

;-)

If they said it was “near Martinez” or “near Lafayette” or “near Alamo” or “near Clayton,” would that have cleared it up?

It is on the BART line -- or as we call it back east, the subway line -- and it's not even at the end of the line.

Eighty looters in ski masks with crowbars: that's crazy enough to be a San Francisco story.

The other day, I was wondering what happened to "flash mobs."

If this is them making a comeback, I'd just as soon they didn't.
