The Washington Post’s reputation as a paper with courageous reporter/investigator as shattered a few years ago when Mark Felt, “Deep Throat”, revealed himself and explained how he handed all the Watergate stories to Bernstein and Woodward on a silver platter.
No “tough investigator”, just Deep State partners in obfuscating the truth.
Marl Felt had an axe to grind, and the WaPo wanted to ‘get Nixon’. Woodward and Bernstein were hoping that Felt would die before his identity was revealed so that they could spin it in their favor. Felt spilled the beans and outed W & B as nothing but hack stenographers used as a tool for Felt to get his “revenge” on Nixon.
