I work in a STEM field, where the dearth of talent among most minority groups (Asians being the notable exception) is more obvious than in most other industries.
It's almost impossible to fake your way to a leadership role in a STEM field, so companies in my industry end up bypassing minorities in leadership positions where the work actually gets done and instead focus on putting them on the corporate boards of directors. So you have this bizarre management structure where technical management roles are filled with whites and Asians, and the corporate governance positions are a patchwork of white/Asian people from the technical side along with minority board members who don't have a clue about the business but came with a long resume from the non-profit side or some other unrelated industry.
Hire 3 year olds. Seriously. Have them picked up before mom leaves for work and dropped off after she gets home. Fed, schooled, loved, and clothed and happy. Teach them religion. Pay for this for 21 years and you’ll have a wonderful employee.
If you’d done this 30 years ago when I’d read this in college, you’d be money ahead, “”diversity”” ahead, loyalty and competency ahead, financially ahead and you’d own your market.
Business is short-sited. They push woke and quotas instead then complain at the results.
Not just black 3 year olds...all your employees.
