Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Wednesday called on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to open an investigation into the planned deal between former President Trump’s new media and technology company and a Special Purpose Acquisition Company, or SPAC.
In a letter to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, Warren said Trump’s company “may have committed serious securities violations by holding private and undisclosed discussions about the merger as early as May 2021,” which was before the deal was announced.
Trump announced last month that he was launching a new social media network, dubbed “Truth Social,” while also revealing that his Trump Media & Technology Group had entered into a merger agreement with Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC), a SPAC. The blank-check company was established in December.

Aren’t you always supposed to have private discussions about a merger before any deal is announced ?
How are you suppose to put together a merger without having some meetings before you announce that a deal has been reached?
JMHO, but the establishment is more terrified of Trump now than when he was POTUS and they will harass him until the day he quits or dies.
There actually is a reason. Far too many conservatives seem to think that the DEMs will play fair and square at some point in the future. I pretty much figured that wasn't going to happen as far back as the early 1980s. If it isn't obvious by now the DEMs don't give a rat's ass what people think is right and honorable, then those people are never going to change.
Warren was always a rabid Red but she hid it well and our phoney baloney news media gave her cover. Period!!!

Using a SPAC to get around securities laws and raise loads of money from largely unsophisticated investors (plus frontrunner speculators).
She’s still acting as though Trump was a politician in office. If he were a sitting president, such actions might be called into question. Since he is not, what business is it of hers?
