Can the FBI be salvaged?

The Washington, D.C.-based Federal Bureau of Investigation has lost all credibility as a disinterested investigatory agency. Now we learn from a whistleblower that the agency was allegedly investigating moms and dads worried about the teaching of critical race theory in their kids' schools.

In truth, since 2015, the FBI has been constantly in the news - and mostly in a negative and constitutionally disturbing light.

The fired former Director James Comey injected himself into the 2016 political race by constantly editorializing on his ongoing investigation of candidate Hillary Clinton's email leaks.

In a bizarre twist, the public learned later that Comey had allowed Hillary Clinton's own private computer contractor - CrowdStrike - to run the investigation of the hack. The private firm was allowed to keep possession of pertinent hard drives central to the investigation. How odd that CrowdStrike's point man was Shawn Henry, a former high-ranking FBI employee.

During the Robert Mueller special investigation, the FBI implausibly claimed it had no idea how requested information on FBI cell phones had mysteriously disappeared.

It was also under Comey's directorship that the FBI submitted inaccurate requests for warrants to a FISA court. Elements of one affidavit to surveil Trump supporter Carter Page were forged by FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who later pleaded guilty to a felony.

The FBI hired the disreputable ex-British spy Christopher Steele as a contractor, while he was peddling his fantasy - the Clinton-bought dossier - to Obama government officials and the media.

NOPE.
FBI is damaged beyond repair and very dangerous to law abiding Americans.
Abolish it already.

Without a lying informant or two, today’s bureau couldn’t investigate a dog-bite case.

Can the Stasi be salvaged? Can the KGB be salvaged? Can the SS be salvaged? Those things are what the FBI is today.

It has to be gutted along with the rest of the 3 letter agencies and the upper ranks of the military. Just about all senior staffers need to be purged.

The FBI was doomed before J. Edgar Hoover died.

Since they have become a political arm of the DNC it’s good reputation is certainly waning.

There’s no realistic mechanism to get rid of the FBI other than civil war. Trump as POTUS can’t do anything about it.

FBI was ruined through being run by a cross dressing homosexual deviant for decades. Hoover’s sick dna prevails today.

>>We can also cite the agency’s inability to follow up on clear information about the dangers posed by criminals as diverse as the Tsarnaev brothers, the Boston Marathon bombers, and the sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.

There is a much longer list of “known wolf” screw-ups by the FBI. I can’t put my hands on it at the moment, but there is this related item:

The FBI had one whistle blower. That means the others endorse tolerate of don’t care about the FBI behavior the last 6 years. Peter Strzok is the face of the FBI.

No. Save the forensic labs and technical groups. Transfer them to other LE agencies. Rank and file agents, give them a chance to move to other LE positions. But everyone else, particularly “leadership” should be fired, stripped of any pension, and barred from ever being involved in LE in any way. I mean they can’t even work as a radio dispatcher in nowhere Kansas. They have become corrupt to the core. Have been for years. I don’t hear of massive resignations in protest, no infighting or lawsuits or charges. So I guess they are all A-OK with what their superiors are doing. That makes them all corrupt.

No. It should be ended. A national police force is a bad idea. A coition of states strikes me as more secure for the nation in the same way as a coalition of national guards guards is non-obtrusive.

“Can the FBI be salvaged?”

Not a chance. It is too rotten.

It should be completely dismantled.

Look, I loved Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. too, but for heaven’s sake, call it what it is - it is a secret police which has become active in politics, it is a cancer, and, like cancer, there is no strategy for peaceful co-existence.

the FBI has become just another enforcement tool of the Media-Dem Party, and as such, should be abolished.

Ask if the DOJ can be salvaged.

The problem with the FBI and the DOJ is the same for any powerful organization. They attract liberals who want to proselytize their ideology. Even private conservative organizations set up by conservatives. Like the Annenberg Foundation, which financed Barak Obama’s failed school projects. Obviously, whatever conservatism there was in the foundation has long since retired and been replaced by radical leftists.

Perhaps there needs to be an organization that certifies lawyers, accountants and other prosecutors and investigators to some standard. Then those prosecutors and investigators are spread across the entire country in state and local jobs. Then, every four years the entire DOJ and FBI can be swapped out with entirely new personnel. The personnel will be enticed to change jobs by superior pay.

Obviously, there are several problems with such an outlandish idea. But the conversation has to start somewhere.

The problem, as I see it, is that many of the top jobs in the alphabet agencies are, in a sense passed down in single families. I read an article that tracked back the ancestry of the top players in the Trump scandals and the people who caused the problem had family, typically fathers, who themselves were occupying a similar job to THEIR fathers, so three generations in the same or similar federal jobs.

I understand how this works as I was in several companies including Honeywell and General Dynamics where the top people, many of whom were incompetent, were the second, third, or fourth generation in the same or similar management positions. Let’s say the great grandfather was incredibly competent. But by the time it got down to the great grandson, who had been pampered and bought his way though college because dad gave the school a building…well, they sucked as managers…sometimes they even sucked as human beings.

Obviously, I haven’t provided an answer. I’m not sure there is one. The internal watchdog idea simply doesn’t cut it. Not after they gave the FBI lawyer who falsified information in order to ruin a man’s life got a slap on the wrist.
