He said that the governor’s office wouldn’t implement any mandates.

He has never changed on that. He just reiterated that.

The key was he is not going to allow a statewide mask or vaccine mandate.

Virginia does have a lot of local control, and that’s a good thing for the most part, and we will have to fight the battle for mandates at our local level.

When he lifts the statewide school mask mandate that the previous governor had, a lot of school systems will lift their mandates as well.

Perhaps he’s just leaving decisions in the hands of local communities, akin to the federal government leaving state alone to make their own decisions.

The GOP is useless.
...............................
Many of Trump’s hardcore supporters warned him to abandon the GOP and establish a genuine SECOND political party for the sake of the country and his 80+ million voters. He rejected that appeal and so, if he decides to run for POTUS again in 2024, he can rest assured that the movers and shakers in the GOP will be working diligently with the ‘rats to ensure his defeat. Completely predictable!

If Terry McAwful had been elected, there would have been STATE mandates inflicted on the people. He as much as said it, plus he was getting more & more pissed with the people of Virginia who were rejecting him .... he would have done it out of revenge. I cannot tell you the relief I felt that Youngkin was elected and I knew there would be no Mandates-from-on-high ..... Northam wanted to do it SO bad, but was afraid to because he knew it would hurt McAwful. I do not exppect Youngkin to support or jump through Biden Regime hoops .... McAwful would have been asking ‘how high’.

Abbott in TX has tried to outlaw mandates (mask) from a State level - just lost in court (again, I think). Personally, I think Youngkin is wise to stay out of it. If your LOCALITY wants to inflict mandates, then the LOCALS should go after them for it and turn it around. My 2 cents.

Well, the entire Communist Party hates him for winning. Now, all patriots have lost respect for him. Where is your army going to come from, Glenn?

Yep. Northam put this in place in August:

Youngkin already said he would remove it.

Outside of NOVA and the Richmond areas, most local school boards are going to remove the mask mandates.

It’s always fascinating how this particular guy gets a ton of nonames that never post on any other discussion but crawl out of the woodwork to defend.

Then what’s wrong with banning mandates and defending the individuals against tyranny? Is he a Governor or not?

Unfortunately I will have to vote against the D’s once again for the sake of my grand children and greats.

Purest example of insanity I've ever witnessed. I feel for your grandkids and greats. They will look back and ask us why we never did anything of substance to change things.

pathetic if so. Look at DeSantis in FLA; that guy kicks ass by protecting the citizens of Florida. He doesn’t let these radical leftist municipalities ruin our lives.

So, once again, we get stabbed in the back after praying for, and supporting, and encouraging others to vote for a Republican that turns out to be just another political hack.

Is anything ever really going to change?

Not a dime’s worth of difference.

Yep. No difference at all:

I mean, they do limit transmission.

And nobody ever said a vaccine would do anything for transmission directly — all a vaccine can do is modify how your body fights a virus once you are exposed to it.

The vaccine improves your defenses. That helps minimize the amount of virus you could expel, and lessens the time period over which you might spread it.

But vaccines mostly are about helping your body FIGHT an infection, and the vaccines do that very well, severely limiting hospitalization and death in vaccinated people who are exposed to COVID.

And it is experimental; this is partly why a booster may be needed, as we didn’t have years perfecting the initial vaccination. Some believe if we had done one dose, and a second dose a few months later, it would have worked as well as a 2-dose initial set with a booster 8 months later.

We’ll probably never know.

Meanwhile, the real fight is to get people to get back to science, which says if you get vaccinated, you can go back to living your life, confident that the risk of COVID is no more than the risk of any general illness like the flu or a bad cold.

severely limiting hospitalization and death in vaccinated people who are exposed to COVID.

Except for the fact that deaths and hospitalizations are RISING in the most vaxxed countries.

Shush - they’re just not boosting fast enough!

Why, if you follow the science and this weeks definition of “vaccine” you’ll know that weekly booster shots are very effective against Covid strain omega.

You can’t fight the mandates in northern Virginia. He said he supported personal choice. He will need to with hold state funds from localities restricting personal and parental choice in government schools. And he needs to implement school choice so the tax dollars follow the child. Woke mandates will come to a swift conclusion.
