Actually it is even more than this article. The West had very few trees compared to now! The natives used to do a lot of forest burning and planting desirable trees. Their forest management methods were a lot better than the ones now!
There are old pictures showing old West compared to the current situation.
Thanks to putting off all the forest fires, forest mismanagement and environmentalists tying themselves to trees and saving spotted owl, we now have hundreds of trees where there used to be just few.
The forest decided, it has enough of this mismanagement and it is now cleaning itself by all the forest fires going on now.
They are EUROWEINIES, most of them don’t even know what toilet paper is!
YUP; just had a 250,000 acre fire in my back yard (USFS and BLM), the smell of roasting Spotted Owl was heavy in the air (yummy).
I do have to admit of though, that the HOTSHOT crews did a great job of cutting line (in addition to my own cat lines) around my place.
A few small spot fires by the chicken house and barn, got them with the hose line and irrigation system I have built all over the place.
Even they were forests at some point in geologic history................
The fire are mostly on government lands, where the mismanagement is. The National Parks and protected Wilderness’s are the most affected.

BTW, I have seen places of huge forest fires.
The fire is almost always stopped by the road. (Well, by the firemen using the road as fire breaker.) Yet the enviros want to get rid of forest roads.
