President Biden is proposing to give a major tax break to local media outlets as part of the $1.85 trillion reconciliation being considered by Congress.

The tax break would allow eligible local media organizations, including newspapers, digital news websites and television stations to receive a tax credit of $25,000 per journalist they employ, and $15,000 for the following four years. The tax break can be claimed for up to 1,500 journalists.

While the measure is aimed at helping smaller local news outlets, bigger media organizations like Gannett will benefit from the tax break and could receive as much as $127.5 million over the next five years.

They don’t need the help. Local media is usually extremely left wing.

It is wonderful that our government is giving tax breaks to people who demonize me.....

Not!

Ain’t it the truth. And of course, ‘non-approved’ media will be further handicapped. When did the Free Press become Approved Press?

Even the snotty little local tv news spouters love to put their spin and eyerolls on all the conservative news they are allowed to report. Have turned them off also. I can step outside or get the local weather on my not really smart phone. Don’t need some my senses assaulted by morons.

This is merely outright recognition that old-time corporate media is state-run media. They are completely beholden to government.

They are the enemy.

They’re already taking steps on The Twittsewer and Fecesbook to make “journalists” a protected class - you’ll be suspended if you criticize them or their lies.

They already are versions of leftist NPR and PBS. And much worse.
They don't need to pay them for what they are getting free anyways.

This is your third post on the same Dementia Joe attempt to bribe the corrupt, decadent fake news media for even more favorable covering.
All that fawning media covering of Joe Stolen hasn't stopped Pedo Joe's numbers from collapsing has it?
Nor did it stop the Dems from getting clobbered in Virginia m
Chuckle.

Basically, that means nothing will change.

Basically, that means nothing will change

What will change is the federal government will now have the financial clout to hammer any news agency that strays off the narrative.

Dictating action by financial black mail is how government agencies work.

As commie takeovers go this one's pretty sophisticated.

What a waste of money. They already are leftist propaganda machines.
Even here in CO tourist town.

We’re looking at this the wrong way. This could be a real coup. I saw some draft language and it looks like the limitations are not content based. Absent getting what looks to be readily available insurance there is nothing preventing anyone from doing this.

Imagine for a moment Lazmataz local news. Subsidized courtesy of Brandon.
