Wyoming GOP Votes to Stop Recognizing Cheney as a Republican

The Wyoming Republican Party will no longer recognize Liz Cheney as a member of the GOP in its second formal rebuke for her criticism of former President Donald Trump.

The 31-29 weekend vote by the state party central committee followed votes by local GOP officials in about one-third of Wyoming's 23 counties to no longer recognize Cheney as a Republican.

In February, the Wyoming GOP central committee voted overwhelmingly to censure Cheney, Wyoming's lone U.S. representative, for voting to impeach Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Cheney didn’t immediately return an email message Monday seeking comment. She has described her vote to impeach Trump as an act of conscience in defense of the Constitution.

Trump “incited the mob” and “lit the flame” of that day's events, Cheney said after the attack.

She's now facing at least four Republican opponents in the 2022 primary including Cheyenne attorney Harriet Hageman, whom Trump has endorsed. Hageman in a statement called the latest state GOP central committee vote “fitting,” the Casper Star-Tribune reported.

"Liz Cheney stopped recognizing what Wyomingites care about a long time ago. When she launched her war against President Trump, she completely broke with where we are as a state,” Hageman said.

In May, Republicans in Washington, D.C., removed Cheney from a top congressional GOP leadership position after she continued to criticize Trump over his repeated claims that voter fraud cost him re-election.

Does that mean that she can’t run as a republican for re-election?

Or, is it preferable for her to be primaried-out?

In any case, she’s not a republican, and she should seek the help of those that she helped, namely, Pelosi and the democrat party.

When someone no longer is representing the area or state that voted her/him in, that person should have the decency to resign. But, no doubt she doesn’t want the state governor selecting a real republican to replace her.

Now that is an abortion that I can agree with.

I heard that the Republicans unfriended her too.

I also have wondered what difference this vote will make, if any? Is it just an ‘administrative rebuke’ a genteel theorectical
admonishment, changing nothing in real time?
If so, Liz certainly won’t lose a wink of sleep over it.

Sadly, the national party STILL hasn't done the right thing and removed her from any committee assignments, like her role on the Committee on Armed Services (Kevin McCarthy should inform Liz that if she wants to serve on a committee, she needs to ask Nancy Pelosi, since that's who been appointing her lately), as well as removing her from any GOP caucus groups, like her membership in the Republican Study Committee. They should have booted her out months ago.

I take it as a censure by the republican party in Montana. I also take it as a rebuke and an indication that she is persona-non-grata in her state and party.

The vote was only 31-29 against her.

Apparently not.

Otherwise Fauxcy wouldn’t still be making demented pronouncements.

Does that mean she is disqualified from the Republican primary? Should she be booted from RINOs in Congress as well? Removed from committees, if any, etc.? Time to boot her from the party completely.
