We know the tests weren’t 100% accurate.
To start, I think they thought it would reflect badly on Trump. Then they decided it was easy money.

Since the test they used for diagnosis was known to produce over 80% false positives by the way it was used I would say you are exactly right.
Hell, even the guy who developed the test said it was never intended to be used the way it was being used.

Obviously had nothing to do with health and safety. The power hungry get a thrill of increasing their control and power.
NYS state and local officials, health system employees have been open about counting asymptomatics, probables, and repeat positives of the same patient as new cases.
The case count they’ve been very open about cooking and nobody called them on it.
The death stats, though, well, that’s a different kettle of fish.

Last year the number of flu cases didn’t surpass 2000. Everything was covid.
Lo and behold the CDC finally admits that the PCR test couldn’t differentiate between the traditional flu or covid. So there’s no way of knowing what folks were ailing from.
