Shoplifters pack cars with $1,600 in stolen groceries in broad daylight

Connecticut shoplifters were caught on video stealing a reported $1,600 in groceries from an Oxford supermarket Tuesday.

The now-viral footage of the robbery shows four masked suspects packing two vehicles with stolen grocery store products as onlookers watch and record, some shouting remarks at the thieves....

...Police said that they did not receive a 911 call until 10 minutes after the crime had occurred, allowing the criminals to have fled far from the scene.

“Had the 911 call came in—we can look at anything in retrospect—it could have been handled much differently. We could have at least attempted to intervene,” Acampora said....

I just had to laugh. Where was the store manager? Ok what happens if some do-gooder shows up with a gun? He’s in big trouble. Let’s say he shoots out the tires. Hard to drive on. Actually soap and diapers are covered by EBT/TANF. These are items which can easily be sold for cash to small stores in the 'hood who will resell them as new goods.

TANF may be used to purchase both food and non-food items (soap, diapers, hygiene, etc.)
