Gov. Kevin Stitt on Wednesday named Brig. Gen. Thomas Mancino the new adjutant general for Oklahoma and commander of the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard.
Mancino had been assistant adjutant general for the Oklahoma Army National Guard since September 2019 and has been a Guard member for 35 years.
"I am pleased to promote General Mancino to this new role,” Stitt said in a news release announcing the appointment. “He is a steady leader, a strategic thinker, an effective communicator and he is the perfect choice to lead the Oklahoma National Guard."
Mancino served on the Governor's Solution Task Force in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mancino commanded a combat task force in Afghanistan from 2011–2012 and has three combat deployments.
"I am incredibly humbled to be selected by Governor Stitt to continue serving the State of Oklahoma in this new role," Mancino said in a statement. "The men and women of the Oklahoma National Guard provide critical support for their fellow citizens wherever needed and being named Adjutant General is the honor of a lifetime."

Sounds like the prior commander was OK with a jab mandate and the gov said, OK, I’m not OK with you, and named a new guy.
Governor should have said “FOAD all of you communist bastards”.
Looks like we have another RINO snake of a governor. Gov. Kevin Stitt needs to lose his primary election.
Wait, did the governor appoin lt someone who is resisting the mandate? If so my apologies.
on the contrary, apparently:
Pentagon to respond “appropriately” after Oklahoma National Guard says it won’t follow COVID-19 vaccine mandate

The Department of Defense will respond “appropriately” to a decision this week by the Oklahoma National Guard to rescind the Pentagon’s requirement for service members to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Driving the news: “We are aware of the memo issued by the Oklahoma Adjutant General regarding COVID vaccination for Guardsmen and the governor’s letter requesting exemption. We will respond to the governor appropriately,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told Axios in a statement.
“That said, Secretary Austin believes that a vaccinated force is a more ready force. That is why he has ordered mandatory vaccines for the total force, and that includes our National Guard, who contribute significantly to national missions at home and abroad,” Kirby added.
State of play: The Pentagon’s statement comes after Brig. Gen. Thomas Mancino, who now oversees the Oklahoma National Guard, “rescinded” the requirement.

I was wrong.. Gov. Kevin Stitt looks like one of the good ones.
Side thought——
What if Stitt and Schift were in a split screen discussion on TV and the news anchor had to keep calling their names. Just one little mistake....
My brother just talked to Mancini on Thursday, coincidentally, at a Veterans memorial event. He is sure Mancini was on the same page as the gov prior to earning his promotion.
Oboy... The states are beginning to get direct control of their militias...
Unless it’s an emergency, they already have command of their states reserves.
CC
So, which commander refused to go with the vax mandate, the old one or the new one?
“That said, Secretary Austin believes that a vaccinated force is a more ready force.”
I.e. a force which 10 or 20 or 30% of key people have either walked off the job or gotten fired, including critical people with unique skills, is a more ready force than one having people with natural immunity but no jabs.
Right.
The new one.
Have any of these NG Gens earned a CIB?
“The states are beginning to get direct control of their militias...”
This is a very, very good thing. Never have we had such draconian central government control. This is a union of states, and the states need to remember that.
I’m betting this BG is going to be punished by the Pentagon. He might be able to serve at the pleasure of the governor, but his 2nd Star probably ain’t happening as long as Lloyd Austin has anything to say about it.
The Pentagon is free not to use for Federal service any state guard they think is a high risk for the COVID cootie.
