Top political officials in the Trump White House tried to block public health guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and to eliminate evidence of political interference into scientists' reports on the coronavirus, according to newly released documents from congressional investigators.
The latest documents from a House committee investigating the former administration's response to the pandemic shed additional light on the efforts of some of former President Trump's political appointees to blunt or even block the messages of career officials because they did not align with Trump's rosy projections

This is crazy. 100% gaslighting.
I wish he had interfered MORE!
Unfortunately, RPOTUS Trump initially trusted people with a “Dr.” before their names. Who didn’t?
it doesn’t matter that in the long run, trump was right and the advisers were wrong... he should not have gone against them. / sarc
When media wants to talk about the last occupant of the White House you know things aren’t going well for the present occupant.
From The Hill. Their agenda is so noticeble.
I take comfort in knowing that the majority of US citizens believe otherwise. Or am I wrong?
good point.
“shed additional light on the efforts of some of former President Trump’s political appointees to blunt or even block the messages of career officials because they did not align with Trump’s rosy projections”
compare this to zhao biden not listening to officials about how disastrous pulling out of afgahnistan would be. Then compare the outrage of the media...
As far as they are aware from the media they consume, Kyle Rittenhouse is certain to be convicted. They haven't heard anything about the prosecution witnesses that have supported the defense, or that the judge has repeatedly admonished the State's lawyers.
lol so you must not have comfort if you have to ask that question.
That’s rich. Trump made it political. 😵💫
‘...with Trump’s rosy projections...’.
Hog wash, or as my father so eloquently used to mutter ‘horsesh*t’.
At the time, Fauci and Birks both repeatedly said that Trump did everything they asked him.
Now that it’s apparent the stabs aren’t working they’re shifting the blame to Trump. Easily predictable.
It’s the other way around. Trump didn’t interfere in the response, Fauci did. It was never solely a health issue. It should have been coordinated by a task force of which Fauci was only one member. It should have included economic advisors, defense, homeland security, state, transportation, labor, education, etc. all balancing the benefits and risks of the response. But by the time it was obvious the response needed to be multi-pronged, the media had anointed Fauci and Trump was consumed with the impeachment, building the wall and campaigning.
Trump is a businessman. And yes as President he had to make decisions which were not always in line with what scientists wanted. He had to consider all aspects of society, not just public health.
What, we scientists (I am one), should have the last say in everything? Nonsense.
The executive has to keep the economy alive, amongst many other things, to avoid governmental overreach and now the seemingly inevitable economic (and perhaps political) crash of the country.
Hey, more leaking!
The Hill thinks this makes Trump look bad, and it probably does, to their readers.
But it actually just shows that he was trying to mitigate the hysteria and consequent damage caused by the Democrat opportunists, and their enablers in the CDC. It’s also further confirmation, as if any was needed, of how completely the apparatus of government has been captured by rigid authoritarians interested only in their own power.
