TRENTON, New Jersey (WPVI) -- New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney conceded Wednesday following last week's election.
Sweeney, a Democrat representing New Jersey's 3rd Legislative District, lost to political newcomer Republican Ed Durr.
"The results of Tuesday's election are in, all votes have been fairly counted, and I, of course, accept the results," Sweeney said. He then congratulated Durr on his victory.
Sweeney said he would not call for a recount.
Sweeney added that he won't be withdrawing from public life, though he stopped short of saying whether he would seek election to the Senate again or run for governor in 2025. He said that he's going to continue to focus on "the things that are important to the people of this state."
"The people of the 3rd Legislative District are the best in New Jersey. It has been an honor and a privilege to represent them in the state Senate, and to serve as the president of the state Senate," Sweeney said.
Sweeney said his loss by about 2,000 votes was the result of overwhelming GOP turnout in his suburban Philadelphia, politically split district.

I guarantee that Durr will pay the price for this. (see “Donald Trump”). I doubt that the New Jersey GOP will have his back. I could be wrong, but I hope everyone here gives him the support he is going to need.
The Dems told Sweeney to concede that last thing they want is ANYONE coming across the the BS in the governors race which I believe was STOLEN plain and simple!!!

If the guy goes full-on Trump, and makes sure to select only people he KNOWS he can trust, he might actually be a political rising star.

I guess they’re having a tough time finding union volunteers to do their political dirty work these days. Everyone is pissed and we will get our revenge someday.
Sweeney thought he has no real opposition. He did not pay the Democratic fraudsters to deploy in his district. First honest election in decades. Murphy needed the votes as well and is really upset with Sweeney. Democrats won’t make that mistake again. Fraud will be full deployed in 2022.
Might be New Jersey’s only growth industry between now and 2022 besides online sports betting and cannabis cultivation.

Ed Durr is a listener to WPXT, a talk station with some excellent hosts. He was on today and said he’s already getting orientation and developing his team.
Trump called him the other day.
He’s a good humble man.
