Kyle was the hero that week, in fact for the rest of the year. His self-defense brought the riots in Kenosha to a screeching halt. Someone had the balls to defend himself against some very bad people.
All the politicians from local to state level couldn’t do it, the police had to show restraint and couldn’t do it. In fact, one can say these people responsible for ensuring peace and safety for all their citizens failed to act and respond. Instead they gave comfort to the criminals and allowed them to move in and take over the streets of Kenosha. These losers should have all be lining up to grovel, to kneel and kiss his Kyle’s ring, offering to resign and assign their pensions over to him. And the DA should be the first in line.
No, it wasn’t wise but nobody else was doing anything to help these businesses.
While not seeing it, I don’t think the judge gave Kyle any advice about testifying. He had to make sure that he was doing it freely, willfully - doesn’t want an appeal that defendant was coerced by his lawyer to testify when he did not want to testify.
Also, idiot DA apparently was banking on Kyle not testifying, as DA seemed unprepared, like he did not know where he was going, jumping all over the place looking for something to get Kyle. Poor cross exam if I ever saw one. But hey, he knows he has a bad case now, as millions of others do. He has to hope the jury slept through the worst parts or is made up of 12 karens.
Great move by defense to put Kyle at the start of the defense. Now any video and expert testimony should support Kyle’s story. Again, it caught DA flat footed. DA should have spent time more time preparing for his cross for his losing case. 18 year non-lawyer made the DA look incompetent and foolish. But that was to be expected. With so much evidence supporting self defense, the charges should never have been brought in the first place.

I agree. He was an untrained kid. He never should have been out on the streets alone. The feral rioters saw him as an easy target and attacked.
Many 17 year-olds have enlisted in the U.S. military and served honorably (my father among them), but they were not sent out untrained and alone into a war zone.
He armed himself for protection. Turns out he needed it. That makes him smart. Three idiots attacked a guy with a gun. Two are now dead and one maimed. That makes them idiots.
