Lecturing the judge is never a good idea because while he might not always be right he will always be the judge. It is like arguing with the umpire. He knows you are angry and he knows if he made a bad call but right call or not he is never going to change his call. You might get a makeup call later but it won’t be now and the ump will let you blow steam as long as you don’t call him a “f*****g nitwit” to his face. Turn around and look at second base if you have to do that. Face him and do it and he will throw you out of the park.

Yes, but even Perry Mason has put the defendant on the stand though rarely.
