France will start building its first new nuclear reactors in decades as part of efforts to meet its promises to reduce planet-warming emissions, French President Emmanuel Macron announced Tuesday.
He spoke as climate negotiators in Glasgow debate how to speed up efforts against climate change, and amid concerns around Europe about recent spikes in energy prices and the continent’s dependence on global gas and oil producers, including Russia.
“To guarantee France’s energy independence, to guarantee our country’s electricity supply, and to reach our goals -- notably carbon neutrality in 2050 -- we will for the first time in decades revive the construction of nuclear reactors in our country, and continue to develop renewable energy,” Macron said in a televised address.
He did not give any details of the plans.

I thought they decommissioned some a few years ago. But yes, I always tell my libs if only each time zone of the us had as many nuclear reactors as France, I would consider a hybrid.
Smart move. Mystifying why everyone isn’t planning on nuclear. Even without the climate scam, it only makes good sense in the long run.
Maybe there is a fail-safe reactor after all these years.

Nuclear power stations are the only way to pick up the slack from murder of coal and oil…

If their muzzies can destroy Notre Dame Cathedral, they’ll have no problem sabotaging their reactors.
Could become a long, cold winter.
Unless liberals support nuclear power and carpet-bombing China’s growing number of coal power plants, they’re just playing a game.
And the US builds unreliable and expensive and ugly windmills.
And they hire transgender generals.
The problem in the US is that all of the reactors were each custom built. In France, they us a proven design and (probably) modernize it.
I thought the climate change nuts were demanding nuclear power plants be shut down a few years ago due to the radioactive waste they produce .
China if you believe them is building a Thorium based nuclear plant.
There are far safer designs today, that we should be pursuing.
I’ve long thought that we should have some of the concrete encased mini nuclear plants stored in the interior of the country ready to go.
And every metropolitan area with a population of 50,000 or more should have a dedicated site with hookups ready to receive one, in case of disaster.
