Parents and their children have been separated by American immigration policies for decades, if not longer. This has often happened out of view from most Americans and photographers’ cameras, starting from the first migrations from Latin America to the United States.
One of the earliest of the documented cases of family separation as policy came in the form of mass deportations during the Great Depression. At local, state, and federal levels, officials launched “repatriation campaigns” that removed nearly 2 million Mexicans, or Mexican-Americans, both permanent and undocumented residents from the United States. Some parents would get detained in immigration raids that left their children untouched and still in the country.
That slowed right after WWII but the feds had other ideas on why and how. During World War II, when the agriculture industry, like many other industries, found itself with a shortage of labor, the federal government recruited Mexican men to work in the U.S. as part of the Mexican Farm Labor Agreement, nicknamed the “bracero” program. Many of the men who were recruited had families back in Mexico—and many said that separation was intentional, given that the government that didn’t want foreign workers to stay very long. They weren’t going to settle in the United States if they had families back in Mexico. But they chose to and figured out ways to get the family in and “repatriated” themselves to the US in the next to worst conditions not a lot different than what they had.
And now that the southern border is filled with people that wouldn’t stay and fix their own place like we did with the British, French, and Germany. They are noiw worse than ever flooding us bringing with them disease, poverty, crime, and our current government’s desire to use them for votes so they bribe them with money that they didn’t earn taking that from those that did. They should have stayed and fixed their problems there and not bring them here for our government’s covert use of money to get their votes.
But any time an immigrant is coming to a new established nation to escape the last one, and not to improve the next one, then it will be nothing but failure. They are only concerned withj escape and don’t care how they get it. Thus that’s why it fails now different from the first of the illegal and legal immigration and does not have a chance of success.

Congress should vote on every single so-called “settlement.” This is fleecing the taxpayers to support liberal organizations and destroy the US.
