Republican governors mostly silent on infrastructure bill
The Hill ^ | 11/08/2021 | Reid Wilson

Democratic governors hailed passage of a bipartisan infrastructure package that will send billions of dollars to state coffers to launch new projects and rebuild crumbling roads and bridges.

But only a handful of their Republican colleagues heralded the bill, which won votes from 19 Republican senators and 13 Republicans in the House.

“This bipartisan bill will put America’s infrastructure on the right track to grow jobs and make our economy competitive for the twenty-first century without raising taxes or adding to the debt,” Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) said in a statement. “After decades of gridlock, I’m proud to have helped push the federal government to finally act.”

Not surprises Hogan likes this bill.

Most of them want this. Politicians from both sides love spending tax dollars.

You think they are spending “tax dollars”? Have I got news for you. There is no way in hell taxes will cover this spending. This cements deficit spending from here to Kingdom Come and guarantees high inflation.

Only a fraction of the money is actually going to real infrastructure, and even that sliver of money is going to things like Amtrak and projects in the big metropolitan areas.

It cannot be stressed enough that the Republican Party just absolutely torpedoed any chances of retaking Congress and getting a majority in the Senate over this breathtakingly bone-headed vote.

It’s mostly pork. It could be worse. But we’ll live. We’ll have to watch out for “build back better” bill. Hope Manchin and Sinema remains solid.

Furthermore, and more importantly, this bill simply greased the skids for the kill-shot BBB bill. Even Democrats and their media minions have said this and Republicans still voted for the infrastructure bill.

Hogan is so full of bull excrement. I can’t stand that guy...wish he’d just put a “D” behind his name.

“This bipartisan bill will put America’s infrastructure on the right track to grow jobs and make our economy competitive for the twenty-first century without raising taxes or adding to the debt…”

Pure, unadulterated BS.

No, you obviously don't understand the gravity of 31 Republicans (18 in the Senate & 13 in the House) voting for the fake infrastructure bill.

Machin has already said he'll vote for BBB when it's in the $1.75-$2T range. He's got his infrastructure bill now. Him and Sinema are going to vote for this and our country will be destroyed.

I am just furious at Kevin McCarthy and GOP Chair Rona.

Tons of dollars going into their coffers that they can hand out to their friends. They don’t care where the money is coming from.

Those are not TAX dollars.

those are debt dollars, or never-to-be-paid-back credit dollars, or money that we don't have dollars.

A big chunk of the “infrastructure” package is going to Amtrak, particularly the Boston to Washington line, which runs through Maryland. Hard to resist the money and kickbacks.

By some estimates, less than 10% of this monstrosity goes to actual roads, bridges, etc. The rest a gift to big business and liberals that love batteries.
