Democrats May Lose, but Their Narrative Is Never to Blame
udumbara.net ^ | 11/7/21

Election post-mortems used to be pretty simple affairs. The winners would claim a “mandate” to govern, and the losers would mutter to themselves something approximating to the late Dick Tuck’s public pronouncement when he lost a race for the California Senate in 1966: “The people have spoken, the bastards.”

But sooner or later they’d have to go back to the drawing board to try to figure out what they were doing wrong and what they could do differently to win back the voters who had chosen the other party.

Sometimes it took a while for the message from “the people” to sink in. The Democrats lost three presidential elections in a row between 1980 and 1988 before Bill Clinton, with the help of the now-defunct Democratic Leadership Council, finally came up with a new and winning formula in 1992.

Two years later, when Democrats lost their majority in the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years, then-President Clinton got the message in time to trim his political sails to the prevailing winds, even announcing during the State of the Union message in 1996 that “the era of big government is over.” He was decisively re-elected that year.

You can still come across such savvy political thinking here and there. Ex-Clinton associate James Carville told Judy Woodruff of the PBS “NewsHour” that “stupid wokeness” was responsible for the Democrat defeats (or near-defeats) in this week’s elections in Virginia and New Jersey and said that they needed to open a “woke detox center” if they wanted to start winning again.

But throughout most of today’s advocacy media, partisan reaction to election results usually takes a quite different form.

Both winners and losers, that is, try to absorb the result into their pre-conceived “narratives.”

It's just how they operate.

Unlike republicans, who act defeated even in victory (see Paul Ryan), democrats act victorious even in defeat.

It's this mindset that keeps them together. "The cause goes on! Fight fight fight!"

When they lose it is because the deception did not work.

The Republicans usually have the best ideas but don’t know how to get them across to the voters. How most of them got elected in the first place is a mystery. There are a few that know how to talk to people and make good points but the rest...they are more comfortable with staying in the background collecting a paycheck.

Republicans have zero moral conviction. They view themselves as being offensive, that their ideas are bizarre, unpopular, and need to be prefaced with an apology to appease people who don't agree with them.

Leftists are zealots and have an absolute conviction that they are just, and act accordingly.

We just hope the Demonrats keep acting the way they are since they will pay very dearly in 2022 and 2024, but please do not tell them.

The DemonRats are getting way too old to run on anything anymore. Just look at Pelousy, Hoyer, Clyburn, Sanders, Feinstein, Leahy etc. are all the Demoncrats in high positions that are 80 years old.

They can not remember what happened or talked about at the meeting they just jeft, and that my friends is very sorry representation.

JoJo - Your comment is a variation of the theme: It is one thing to run and win an election, it is another to have the will and knowledge to govern. The GOP is better at the former than the latter.

Consider that the demonkkkraps with the slimmest majority in the house and a knotted Senate passed a $1.2 trillion “infrastructure” bill. Most of the spending therein has nothing to do with infrastructure. Yet Trump could not get a GOP control Congress to fund a border wall for $8 billion, so he had to find discretionary money elsewhere.

Exactly. I have a leftist ‘friend’ whom posted a video of a woman talking about their failure and that it is due to their ‘messaging’. I commented that their ‘messaging’ comes across loud and clear, asking if maybe their POLICIES might be the problem. That unless they’re going to tell big lies and then engage in the same policies I don’t see how their ‘messaging’ can change.

His response was (paraphrase) - the R’s are certainly engaging in the ‘Big Lie’ and are still trying to prop up the authoritarian dictator Trump.

I had to laugh...he’s just posted a video on changing ‘messaging’ and then writes the same old leftist garbage.

Their true problem is that they’re radicals that just can’t help themselves. They’ve been taken over with ‘white privilege’ and ‘white supremacy’ arguments, it is almost baked into their (pay) structure. Good luck changing that, I’m sure anyone that tries is just guilty of ‘white supremacy’.

Messaging! The Repubs are typically bad at it and the Dems, with the help of the media, are much better at it.

The downside of the Dems is that they lack a collective retrospection. They are the self-righteous-self-anointed or just narcistic criminals. Either way they do not repent.

Democrat/Leftists are zealots and have an absolute conviction that they are just, and act accordingly.

In Greek tragedy, excessive pride or defiance, is considered a curse which leads to harm or ruin.....and inflicts retribution or vengeance upon the actor.

In my frame of reference, I see the disdain for their opposites as little more than a virulent hatred that consumes them and blindsides them to reality.

They still do not comprehend why they lost Va and all the rest.......which is actually quite pathetic.

Biden is the pluspefect example.

The corrupt career politician actually thinks he's legit. One vision of his lunacy was him stepping off a plane at a campaign venue and making a show of waving to crowds THAT WERE NOT THERE.

Not to mention Bidens looney delusions about his crackhead son, Hunter.....known in mob circles as an "earner."

Bidumb will reward child abusers and border traffickers with billions of OUR tax dollars.

You can not make this up this absurdity.......who knew Biden could be that dumb?

So-called unaccompanied minors got reunited with their “parents”......then quickly got sent back across the border to be reused.

Some reports say the same kids were recycled by trafficers over twenty times.....many of them sexually and physically abused.

That is why the Trump Administration would do checks to confirm familial links, and lacking those, took the children away from those scumbags posing as “parents.”

They don't comprehend the country sees that Biden's made major mistakes either...

And they're NEVER willing to admit to any of those mistakes. Watching Biden and his press toadies pretend that these blunders are really 'great successes' is nuts. How stupid do they think we are? And it's insulting - 'elites' think they can lie to us with the help of their butt boys. Big mistake.

You want to cry but it’s a!most laughable.....b/c this is the way Biden kept being reelected.

He outright lied, plagirized and was visibly corrupt.....but Delaware kept voting for the kleptocrat.

We need sanity and IQ tests for his voters.

Yes.

Covid not going away and the economy going to hell were slow rolling disasters. But the A’stan disaster, unlike the covered up border, was sudden and in your face. It made people see all the other disasters going on.

Youngkin ran an uninspired campaign. He won because people used him as a proxy to vote against the pervert vegetable in the WH.

You're right - that was a crack in the wall. Once you see part of it you start looking at the other 'stories/flaws' and start seeing democrat lies everywhere...

It's hard to see the pattern - but once you see it it's hard to see anything else. Now I'm stunned when people can't see Biden for what he is... You get it Liz.

[Biden], corrupt career politician actually thinks he's legit.  [Remember} the time he step off a plane at a campaign venue and made a show of waving to crowds THAT WERE NOT THERE.

* * *

Liz, he's operated as a corrupt politician so long he sees nothing wrong with paying off Democrat cities with "infrastructure dollars" and shaking down foreign governments of funds by leveraging military and economic threats.

Perhaps the powers that be singled out Biden as Obama's vice president precisely because Biden was the longest active politician of the Uniparty -- and so could be counted on keeping Obama in line with the Congress.  (Interestingly, Pence was probably approved by McConnell as Trump's 2nd hand for the same reason.)

Biden appears to have had a good relationship with Xi Jingping, the Covid King.  And it's probably because they both rule as gangster leaders.  Each godfather has his own territory to control and it's assumed that if enough it paid, cooperation can occur from time to time.

The Uniparty operates like the Chinese Communist Party.  It's frightening to think how long this has been going on, but Trump exposed it and we're now embarked on a multi-decade mission of dismantling the Permanent State and returning power to We the People.

In 2019, I made this meme, sticking a key insight from Peter Schweizer's book, Secret Empires.  Click the pic to read it full-screen.
