“Up to 50 people were injured according to St John Ambulance volunteers and South East Coast Ambulance who were dotted around the town. A number of people suffered eye and hand injuries.

“Chief Superintendent Howard Hodges said: ‘I’d like to thank the community of Lewes for behaving responsibly and allowing tonight’s bonfire celebrations to pass without significant incident.
Well, that sounds like fun! They’ll let the drunks go in the morning.
Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holla boys, Holla boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
And what should we do with him? Burn him!

meanwhile, in Melbourne Australia, there are ***TRUMP signs - which DM hack finds bizarre!
6 Nov: Daily Mail UK: Thousands of protesters flood Melbourne chanting ‘sack Dan Andrews’ over vaccine mandates and proposed pandemic bill - slamming it as ‘dangerous new legislation’
Scores of protestors are in Melbourne’s CBD opposing state vaccine mandates
Hundreds of demonstrators have also slammed a proposed state pandemic bill
Second protest was also staged in St Kilda in relation to climate change inaction
By ANDREW PRENTICE
The demonstrators marched down Bourke Street to Parliament House on Spring Street just after 12pm, with shouts of ‘free Victoria’ and ‘Sack Dan Andrews’.
Any mentions of the Premier or chief health officer Brett Sutton were met with universal boos from the animated crowd...
The new pandemic-specific laws, which are set to replace state-of-emergency powers when they expire on December 15, curtail the chief health officer’s powers.
If rubber-stamped, they will give the premier authority to declare a pandemic and the health minister the role of issuing public health orders.
The crowd, which was comprised of children, the young and the elderly, brought the CBD to a standstill.
Face masks were scarce, with some protestors spotted deliberately waving Australian flags held upside down – symbolising the nation is in distress.
Others were clutching Eureka flags and ***bizarrely, Donald Trump flags...

idiot Sky Australia presenter begins by saying “thousands” but changes to “more than one thousand people” just seconds later! in comments, plenty suggest higher figures. 10,000 is a pretty common assessment on other videos as well:
VIDEO: 1m24s: 6 Nov: Sky Australia: Protests against vaccine mandates and pandemic laws in Melbourne
Thousands of protesters have descended on Melbourne’s CBD in a demonstration against the Victorian government’s pandemic legislation.
There are two rallies are taking place, with the larger movement involving more than 1,000 people, who are marching down Bourke Street to Parliament House.
The crowd is taking a stand against new laws, which will come into force after December 15, giving Premier Daniel Andrews authority to declare a pandemic and the health minister the role of making public health orders...

What a shame this isn’t in Lewes, Delaware.
Xoe would have to bunker down in the White House for the weekend for the first time every.
I remember celebrating a couple of Guy Fawkes bonfires when I lived in England as a child. I didn’t understand it, but it was nice to stand around the fire with my family. My mother was English and I’m sure she missed that tradition, especially when I think about how I’d miss our July 4th celebrations if I lived abroad.
We need “Bonfire Night” in the USA. That looks like great fun.
